Billy Beane Shocks The Baseball World; Thursday First Take

Not to mention the Bay Area Sports Media --should be quite a day on the sports-talk radio shows.

Beane trades Cespedes to Boston for ace pitcher, Lester.

  1. Dude is going all-in. Gotta respect that. Turns over darn near the entire roster every couple years (due to his budget), makes for some fun times.
At this point even if they fail in the post season again fans can't say their GM didn't try.

  2. How is this a shock in the baseball world? It's known Billy Beane doesn't sign players to big multimillion contracts or extension.

  3. Does this mean I won't get my La Potencia t-shirt tomorrow?

  4. Just last night, I was thinking about how talented Cespedes is. Gotta like the local boy Gomes, and it is always good to have another solid arm in the rotation (especially a lefty). But I'm going to miss the big guy with the out-of-this world home runs and arm!

Meanwhile, on the Giants front: Nice meetin'' 'ya Dan Uggla. Hardly got to know 'ya. Have a nice retirement.

  5. The Boston Red Sox Nation thanks Billy Beane today.
We are letting him borrow our star players Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes till this November.
Both players will sign again with the Boston Red Sox in the off season this year.

In return, the A's must hand over their star player Yoenis Cespedes for the next 10 years.
On Opening Day next year, all 3 players will be in Red Sox uniforms.
    Thanks Billy Beane.
You have proved today you a Red Sox fan deep down!

    1. I always love when people talk about the team like they're theirs. "Our players". FYI, these players couldn't give a shit less about you, make more money than youll make in a lifetime in 3/4 a season, and wouldn't cross the street to shake your hand. This is one of the things I've always thought Radnich was right on about.

Keep being a sheep, keep buying the swag, keep putting hundreds a year into the owners, investors and players pockets. Another FYI, they wouldn't even piss on you if you were on fire. Dumbass.

    2. Nah, Cespedes plays out next year then signs for bigger money with the Yankees. Lester and Gomes get pissed because the BoSox moved them and sign with the Yankees as well.

Beane now has the horses to win in the post season and a NEW Beane Town has arrived. :)

  6. This saves the A's enough money to repay the $5 mil they skimmed off the parking lot concessions that they still owe the City of Oakland.
Just kidding, they have no intention of paying that money. Better spent on repairing the giant upper deck tarp in time for the playoffs.

    1. They wouldn't want to dip into John Fisher's 2.8 Billion.

  7. This is a "rental" worth renting for three months. The A's get a stud arm...and because they'll lose Lester, they'll get a compensatory draft pick. Besides, Cespedes doesn't hit for average...and this frees up the two Josh's for more playing time (DH or in the field).

Who knows--Lester is from the West Coast (Tacoma, WA area)--he may decide he likes it out here!

    1. Like the west coast enough to play for 50% what he could get elsewhere?

  8. To quote that wise sage Gary Radnich.
    Nobody, but nobody cares!

    1. Radish should have been off tv and the radio 10 years ago.

      Ok maybe 15.

  9. SHUT OUT!!...without Cespedes the A's will sink like a rock. And fuck John Hickey and Becker and the rest of the Mercury who deleted my accurate prediction. I called it pre game. And my Warrior prediction also...
I couldn't despise any more the local toy department media if I tried...no wait, they take bribes too. So EVEN MORE HATE!

    1. Beane has Hickey,Thompson and Kawakami in his back pocket..their noses getting brown near his ass crack.
btw- NO dissenting posts of the trade on that blog, its not just me. Never trust anything the Merc says about Oakland..good or bad.

  10. Stan doesn't know squat about baseball. With Lester, the A's have arguably the best pitching staff in the game. Guess what Stan...pitching, not hitting wins titles! Cespedes was not going to be affordable for next season anyway. Would you rather have a .260 hitter with power but who is injury prone or guy who is a proven winner in the post season this fallo? (remember last year's Boston playoffs and World Series and Lester's performance for the Red Sox?) Now Oakland has Gray, Lester, Kazmir and Simarjzja. I think that's a pretty darn good rotation. How many games have you been to in your life anyway Stan? You obviously don't know much about baseball. Stick to politics my friend!
