    1. Smart, and does good work for CSNBA too!

    2. Hottest? I guess everyone has a type.

She has a refined presentation and appears very professional. I also get the impression she has very thick skin and can handle locker room culture.

  2. I thought when K&K signed six year contract extensions in 2010 for about $5.75 million it was for each, not as a pair.

  3. How much does a Damon Bruce or Murph and Mac or Kate Scott or Ray Woodson type make? Always wondered what a PCon pulls down too

  4. Mindi Bach. Get out of here. Kate Longworth. Hot.

    And I like Brunettes!!

    2. @4:37 and 11:47 PM
Spot-on. Nothing more of a joke than a so-called "sports director" who doesn't know sports. The fact that he consistently relies on Darya--of all people--to update him on sports personalities and events is laughable.

    3. Agree. Radnich is one of those guys who really doesn't matter as much as people think--if his radio or TV bosses dumped him they would not notice a drop in ratings or ad revenue during his time slots. Way past his prime. Papa, on the other hand, really does make a difference to his stations.

    4. Radnich lost me several years ago when he commented that he and Kruger were "Just two white guys flapping their lips", and I realized that he had given THE perfect description of himself. He stopped doing his homework and relies solely on his inflated personality.

  6. With the money the Giants are wasting on their broadcasters, they could sign a player who could actually hit for them.

  7. John Miller is a total professional -- continues to work on his craft after many years in the business. He does his homework where pronunciations are concerned. I'm watching the Giants game tonight. It's the 5th inning. Duane Kuiper has already called Mike Morse "Morris", and someone should tell Duane that there is no "D" in Bumgarner. To think that the Giants campaigned for this man to be in the Hall of Fame is laughable. Re: Kruk, he is a dancing bear. Someone should tell him that the entertainment is on the field. If you read the comments on Kruk of a few days ago, you will see that Kruk thinks he is way popular than he actually is. Greg Papa is a pompous ass. Although Bob Fitzgerald has no class or character and stole Papa's job, it was hard to feel sorry for Greg because he might be a bigger jerk than Fitz. No comment on Radnich. He does no play-by-play, so it's tough to critique him along with the others. Of all the names listed, Ted Robinson is my favorite. Like Miller, he is a consummate pro and the most versatile talent in the group

    1. No "D" in Bumgarner, and no "H" in Jon Miller. Not much "O" or "D" from the Giants lately.

    2. Miller prepares well for broadcasts and is detail-oriented, but he's not a former player and doesn't understand the game from the perspective of Krukow and Kuiper.

    3. I think that's a good thing. I'd much rather listen to a seasoned professional broadcaster like Bill King, Miller, Papa or Korach than a member of the "jockocracy" who is there because of his ballplayer past and not his ability behind the mic. See Huff, Aubrey and so many others especially in football. That said, Kuiper is very good at PBP!

    4. Miller is still good when Fleming is "on assignment" and Miller is working alone, or with Krukow, but Miller and Fleming BS so much when they are together that their broadcasts are unlistenable.

  8. Can't wait for the KNBR/Giants apologist to come out of the woodwork.
Any remark that is seen as a slight to Thee Sports Leader and here they come.

    1. HUH? I don't see anything above that constitutes a slight to KNBR.

  9. Radnich is stealing money. How many listners/viewers change the channel in "babble"disgust everyday? Muchos personas..

    1. Apparently not as many as you think.

    2. I listen to Gary usually, as I work from home. I do turn it off when kate scott starts her loudmouth schtick about most things, especially when she turns the condescension knob to "11" and goes on about "the beautiful game"...

  10. Jon tends to over-describe the live play, often stumbling around a bit, and takes too long to tell you the result.

Jon is a terrific host and so forth, but Flemming is the superior play-by-play man.

    1. I agree. Miller used to be relevant when he did Sunday night baseball but he has lost his fastball. His attempts to be flowery and to interject spanish are weak sauce.

    2. I agree. Miller reminds me of that ex-wife who just wouldn't shuuuut uuup! Hence the ex part. Lol

  11. Not true about Jon Miller lacking ballplayer experience. He was voted MVP back to back years in the 1960' in Hayward little league

  12. Papa can be great but he's a bit too full of himself.****** Radnich is like your strange uncle. Fascinating on some days, but avoidable more often.******Ted Robinson is pure vanilla with the occasional sprinkle/fudge. He won't ruin a broadcast ever but he's not overly interesting. Any time I hear him being interviewed I change the dial. ******Miller doesn't hold my attention anymore.******Kuip & Kruk I'm fine with. They do a good local job.******Guy Haberman does a nice job for the A's.******Damon Bruce isn't very deep. Much more fluff than substance, but entertaining in his own way.******Fitz is unlikeable.******Brooks is just awful. He's like a fake black guy who's actually black.******Tolbert seems like a guy who is just left to do whatever he wants, and that he does.******Ratto has his moments but adds little to a show with no direction.******Ric Bucher is the WORST sports radio host I've ever heard in my life, if we're excluding Eric Byrnes. But it's really close. Bucher is worse because he's supposedly a pro. At least Byrnes can add something.******Marty Lurie does a good show but baseball is quickly becoming America's least cared about sport.******

KNBR is not great. 95.7 is somehow worse.

    1. Geeeeeez, I should have been a sportscaster! I really like Sports, i work for the Giants, I am a knowledgeable sports guy, I am a fairly decent broadcaster, maybe I should switch or take over Bill Martins spot! Meteorologist Mike Pechner

    2. Bucher is a pro writer not a radio host. He's still learning that skill. Good writer though.

  13. I gave up on Radnich after his little crybaby stunt when paired up with Damon Bruce. Admittedly, not the best pairing (a train wreck) but pouting on vacation and not coming back until you get your way is weak. Sorry, Gary, I use to luv ya! Now, Gary Radnich....SIT DOWN!!

I rarely listen to KNBR now unless it is a Giant game or Marty Lurie, who's a gem. Not everyone's cuppa joe but, like the game, his long shows make for some enjoyable background radio while getting things done.

I still laugh when I think about when Willie Mayes met Rod Brooks in person. Mayes, for the longest time, thought he was a white guy. Brooks' response was, "No, I'm a brother like you!"

Ted Robinson and Ray Woodson I kind of lump together. Both are intelligent but somewhat dry guys. They don't hold my attention for an everyday show but, used sparingly, I look forward to tuning in to them. Especially when we get Robinson fresh off of his Olympics gig.

I find myself listening to The Game more. It is a bit of a frat house at times and the morning show is still a work in progress. The "law firm" of Haberman and Middlekauff is a little dry but get Middlekauff on the NFL draft and the guy excels. Papa and Lund are great. D-Bruce is the best. And it is nice to hear from Mychel Urban again along with the occasional visits from Henry Wolford and Lincoln Kennedy.

The new guy, Troy Clardy, is still feeling his way and I'm giving him a chance. He's trying to appeal to those disgruntled A's fans that hate the Giants so much but, like the rest of the station, that ain't going to get you enough ratings so you might as well embrace the Giants as well.

And while Ken Korach is the best, I'll continue to praise Vince Cotroneo. He won't wow you but the guy is solid and doesn't get enough praise.

  14. Kids don't care for baseball as much.

All ratings are down but no one is concerned with world series unless their team in it, unlike other sports.

It's not failing or going out of business, but it's certainly not football or basketball, college included.

Post tv ratings and not tickets sold. That's not nearly as relevant

    1. Filled stadiums, especially for a sport that plays so many games, is plenty relevant in multiple respects. In many areas, Little League participation is up. That, coupled with the significant presence of youngsters at the ball parks, gives me the impression that baseball is plenty popular with the kids. The community and media response, and attendance, for MLB championship celebrations (such as parades) is comparable to those for NFL and NBA teams. I have followed all of the major college and professional US sports since the late '60s, and I have never seen better overall game attendance and general interest for MLB. IMO, television ratings are not a true reflection of the popularity of that particular sport.

Football is thriving, and basketball is doing well. NHL and Soccer have a good following of loyal fans in this country. Baseball is doing very well, and I think the claims that its popularity is waning are dubious.

    2. NBA basketball is so bad that the playoffs drag on for 2 months so that the network doesn't have to waste the sweeps on the championship round. The sports pages here list the results and box scores on the back pages. I did not hear anyone where I work, talk about the Miami/San Antonio series and I work at a TV station.

  15. While KNBR and the Game are both sports stations, they take sharply different approaches. KNBR is unapologetic in focusing on the teams they're in bed with (Giants, 49ers, Warriors, etc...) whereas the Game is trying to cover everything despite having broadcast rights for the A's and Raiders. I've found that if you're a sports fan that will listen throughout the day, KNBR is the better choice. If you're only tuning to sports for 10-20 minutes each way during your commute, the Game may be more appealing. That difference may also explain the ratings of both stations.

Generally, I will check in on Gary/Larry in the morning, but they usually lose me quickly and I bounce around the dial. In the afternoon, I will bounce between Tolbert and Bruce. I've heard most of the other shows on both stations and none of them appeal to me. I'd rather listen to national shows or satellite.

  16. The Gary and Larry show was SO much better today with Ted Ramey in instead of the condescension queen kate scott. I wish they'd drop her and bring Ted in.

  17. Gary needs to go. Put Ray Woodson in his place. He's smart and not obnoxious. Kate Scott stays.
