Christine Craft Bizarre Shots on Savage Poodle, Teddy; KGO Radio's "Debate" And the Inside Jokes; Ronn and Karel; Tolbert Farts and the Friday AM Bash and a Savage Take on the Land of 'Tolerance'

 I'm a genius.

My heart of hearts tells me Christine Craft went after Teddy but in reality she was really going after Michael Savage, just a guess.

Christine frequents here and likes to pick and poke, stir up the masses, only Chris, why go after a small, little innocent poodle like Teddy?

Your barbs are occasionally entertaining and pithy, I'll give you that but seriously, a poodle? Bad teeth? Savage treats Teddy better than some parents treat their kids. If you want to spar, Christine, and I know surely you have a little twinkle in your eye, I'd probably pick a different target, just my opinion, I'm sure you'll chime in and start a new forest fire. Wonder what Savage might say today, this could be interesting.

*The trouble-shooter from Cumulus in town to see what the hell is going on at KGO and KSFO, as I told you last week, happens to be Lew Dickey himself. Enjoy the crab and saltines Louie, Louie.

*Deidra Lieberman, (no relationship), her highness herself, quit only because she was "severely disgusted" about the whole state of affairs --too bad some of her operatives haven't done the same, but hey, like Ronn Owens, they you gotta feed the family.

*Ronnnnn and Copey at the "debate": Gene Burns is vomiting in his grave; Wattenburg is chuckling; Taliaferro just did his 66th Calypso and Mickey Luckoff just ordered his second round of vodka shots.

*Ronnnnnnnn: my gadgets, my ego, my 2-buck tips at the NBR and manicures --what a life!

*THIS JUST IN!: Karel and Ryan Scott are fighting over a bowel of arugula chips.

*If ever an event were worthy of  "papering the crowd", mark Sunday, June 8 in San Jose on your calendar.

*The current schlemiel running KGO; ("he's a really nice guy"), is the same guy with one foot out the door --even he knows a Titanic when he sees one.

*I'm wondering, what are they going to debate at the debate? The next person who's about to get screwed at the KGO Inn? How many times Karel can plug his website? How many times he's walked the red carpet? How much brown toilet paper Copey and Ronnnnnnnnnn show the throngs of fans who paid $8.10?

*Someone in PR told me the vast majority of Invasion of the Body Snatchers zombies in the "audience" will largely be interns, their families, members of the sales department--all two of them because seriously, if you actually pay 8 bucks to witness this extravaganza you need serious therapy or an Indian buffet on a bad stomach.

*Bret Burkhart is the emcee: Bret, please tell me they gave you a shitload of money to do this, please.

*Ronn, off the debate for a moment, tell my audience here about your engineer that they got rid of--I hear it was a doozy of a story, almost as good as Deidra Lieberman.

FRIDAY NOTES: Speaking of a bad stomach and Indian buffet, we give you Jan Wahl's Friday movie reviews on KCBS--your all news station which repeats repeats  repeats repeats repeats...yeah, I know, TSL bravado, sure, lovely programming...Hey, Christine: they invite a 4th-tier "comedienne" to the debate and ignore you. And you have the chutzpah to defend these cretins? Jesus Chris, Chris have some female genitalia and tell them to stuff it--then again, as I think it out maybe they did you a favor...Tom Tolbert: overrated --thinks way too highly of himself--Tom, your farts smell just as bad as the rest of us...Barbara Simpson is reportedly talking to a lawyer, I'll leave it at that...Hey, Brian SussMAN? Serious question: Have you listened to your show? ...Yes, I have ads, lots of 'em which means a whole helluva lot of people are reading this shit for better or worse. I kind of like to think of it as reasonable therapy --a chance to air it out and vent, as Lowenstein says so frequently, although here, you can vent, exchange notes, and not be filtered and censored like the mattress man...Armstrong and Getty were at a tony Sacramento restaurant after a show and meetings for lunch. Tab: $52 bucks: tip: $5. And the service was pretty good. Add to the resume: shitty radio hosts, shittier tippers ...Sarah and Vinnie were hard at it at Hunan where she once again told him to STFU! Only he prefers to make an ass of himself and start bitching out loud--once again, Vincent, she makes the dough--you simply blow...

SAVAGE: Get this through your stinkin' head, San Francisco: Many of you are jealous, (including Mr. Softie himself, Owens, the biggest phony outside of Karel himself)--Savage tells it like it is and is must-listen radio who occasionally misses. He hasn't paid me a cent to say this: I love listening to him. His rants are borderline genius. He is the only guy on radio that truly moves the needle. I don't give a rats ass about his politics, which if you're a Savagista you know is about 1% of his platform. He's not for everyone, including me at times if you read me enough. Give me entertainment, provide me a listening post that makes me laugh and cringe and I'm there...Savage, in reality, is too good for you, you don't deserve him. Rarely if ever do I pay for things, but I'd pay $8 to listen to Savage ...And before I get excoriated by the Bay Area left, let me tell you this: get your asshole blinders off and give a listen to him one day. Like, listen...get you head out of your ass and take note because a lot of what Savage says is pure and genuine, a far cry from the phony nebulous shit offered by Owens and Krasny. Sincere and compassionate? My ass. No, I'm not "right wing" nor left, and I don't belong to any party --in fact, I'm in no one's corner so I say all this with my heart, not beholden to any one individual, company, --I'm a believer in independent thought and process. If you piss me off and pander, I can see through the bullshit and will call you out, which on occasion I've done with Savage --I'm the one who said day one that I thought the new time slot did him wrong and that he wouldn't make it, probably...I was wrong.

I have heard Savage say things that indeed make me cringe but at least he's honest and open about it and I'll call him out. I don't really know the guy, never broke bread with the guy and therefore he doesn't own me and I don't own him and frankly, I don't want to be close to the guy--he's got a family. I just care about 12-3 PM and his performance, this isn't a "This is your life" episode.

The land of tolerance needs to be tolerant. You don't like the guy, then don't listen ---just like I do when he's over the top, which sometimes is his best performance.
Finally, 'Savage is the only, I repeat, ONLY,local media personality to have gone NATIONAL and succeeded on every platform --He is on the BIGGEST and best radio real estate in the country-- in East Coast PM drive time! His books are always NY Times best-sellers, including his two novels. In fact, his novels are set in San Francisco and have been compared with Jack London in his capture of the bay and streets. Any wonder why the pseudo-intellectual FAILURES hate him?

I rest my case.

  1. Well if you think I was "attacking" the dog, you don't know how to read. I am a champion of all dogs. I rescue them, foster them, litigate pro bono for them and have done so for decades. In any event, the dog in the picture, may according to what you are told, be "taken care of better than most humans". It still needs serious grooming and a nail clipping(long, clicky nails are very painful for dogs, even if they don't tell you) . When a dog who requires grooming isn't groomed, if often is the case that no one is checking it's mouth for dental issues, which can cause immensely serious problems. I'm glad Michael likes his prop/poodle. If someone is kind to animals, I don't care about their politics. I've said he's very talented, he's also a prick, to which he is entitled. so there.
As for the upcoming KGO debate, I'll be listening and so will you. I love those shows. I got to do one of them once(for the weekend hosts) and it was a lot of fun.

    2. Something came to me today. I am a very few years before Christine Craft's age and have followed her "nomadic" career extensively. A viewer, listener and a reader of her ups, downs, gains and losses, especially before the courts. Seriously said -- not that it will make a difference, but consider this: Christine Craft did not make near the difference she thinks in this business and is wearing it as a fake blanket of paper roses. Christine, give it and yourself a deserved break. Don't be a hater. Don't go to the other side, either. Just don't be the mean, hateful person you've become.

You worked for three-to-four year stops, if that, fulltime in television, be it Santa Barbara, eight months in Kansas City, a year at CBS, about same at KPIX, KRBK and KQED. You lasted longest at KSAC radio - a no power - no coverage AM with a horrid signal in Sacremento. You are a "content provider" but knew nothing of the business of radio. "Talk is cheap" they say. You were gone because you couldn't get people to sponsor you. You ultimately failed at KFBK and you worked freebie at KXRA and KSCO.

Today, watching women "journalists" on "The View" -- it was amazing what they said about how Barbara Walter was the inspiration to them. Not Christine Craft. Women who had to deal with breast feeding an 8-week old baby outside the green room at ABC. How Barbara was snubbed to ask only questions after the fifth one asked by Frank McGee. How she was to do only "women's fluff" and be "weather girl" on "Today."

Mostly, she reached out to everyone from a bald headed Oprah in Baltimore to a black comedienne in Whoopi Goldberg and told them just the opposite of what you claim you are. "Take is day-by-day. Do what they (men and management) say but never give up. Just be you. Be fair and equal in all that you do."

A far cry from what you do. You are relegated to "pick and poke" to stir these minor media masses as if you're really important. Right down to picking on a poor dog; calling the #2 talk show host in the nation (only in some demos, however,) a "prick" and making it that you're so right and everyone is so wrong. "I wasn't invited, but I'll be listening." You'll be doing the karel show for free for some time to come on no stations.

Good that Lew Dickey's in town. He and John are different, difficult and in billion dollar Cumulus debt just as is cometitors at Clear Channel.

Christine, coming to a blog and posting your facebook page wicked, radical far-left lunacy is beneath you. You used to be a nice woman as "Copper's Mom". Now, you've become an unimportant as a fly on the ass of a dog.

Christine, please, stop this self-important phoniness about yourself. You weren't that big then and you're not now. Enjoy your past, but move on. Stop taking yourself so seriously because, obviously, the Dickey's don't and neither does the KGO audience, what remains of it.

Why not write another book? Your dearest friend, Bernie Ward, gets released in six months. Why not take your adulation and make it both "a good read" and, potentially, profitable for both at least here in the Bay Area? Do something for others, even progressives. Unlike your dear Mother, this ain't Broadway. Your daughter is doing fine doing Emmy caliber work in Sacto. Your dogs are fine. Your gun is loaded and strapped to your thigh, no doubt. Do something as a legacyy as age creeps faster than you know. No excuses. Just do it. Regards.

    3. Christine doesn't really bring up those past discrimination battles.

Compare and contrast with Copey who is always shamelessly whining about .the woes of being a black man in America...Stop playing the victim card and get over it already.

    4. Re 12;34 PM. Ouch! Christine is going to need a Cold Compression Bandage after that scalding attack. This has to be someone 'in the business' right now, or has been for many years. They know far more details than your average Berkeley Blogger. If you said those things to her face at a party, she would more than likely throw her shot of Jack Daniels
(on The Rocks) in your face, then slap you a good one. You have left no stone unturned.

  2. Rich, funny you jump in to defend Savage's dog from Christine Craft's "attack". Where were you when Savage would refer to "the gay lobby" as the "Pink Hand"? Where was your outrage when Savage refers to Latinos as "Apocalypto Men". Where are you when he routinely refers to blacks (including the president) as "lazy, unqualified people looking for a handout". I'm an unfettered Marxist and I listen to him. He's like a court jester to me. An entertainer. He makes me laugh. I do worry about the morons who take his words as gospel. Now we even have Brian Sussman trying to copy the Savage outrage. Every other promo on ksfo is Sussman screaming with fake outrage. I guess this truthful post won't see the light of day. Too much truth. By the way, Savage backed off attacking the "Pink Hand" after the family soft drink business was targeted for boycott. So much for Mr. Tough guy. Money talks...

  3. All of you types who think ageism is so cool, shouldn't you be calling for Mr. Savage's ouster? After all, he's older than I am and so therefore, cannot be relevant. Perhaps this is why he "forgets" to have his poor poodle groomed?

    Did ya hear Weiner today:

The mean-spirited, hate-filled Republican Party is crumbling right before our eyes. And it's pure joy to see the downfall of the vicious GOP!

  6. Rich, something besides KGO bashing (there are probably 75 other stations you could critique) and kissing up to Savage, again, would be refreshing.

  7. Tolbert really needs to go back to being the funny second banana who responds to the straight man directing the show. Unfortunately, I don't know if Woodson has enough "it" to fill that role or if Ratto can develop into the position either. Until then, Tom's show just sounds like some guy flipping thru that day's newspaper and commenting on whatever catches his eye - kinda disjointed, directionless and pointless. Get this man a Ralph!

You could also throw in "incoherent" to describe his show.

  8. I'd like to see Christine take over Barbara Simpson's show.

Christine is good interviewer and would engage the ksfo callers.

Enough with this rubbish that every damn ksfo host has to be of a certain political bent. Geraldo is on Fox TV, isn't he?... This type of idiotic thinking is why radio is dying. Very sad...

    1. I could live with Christine in that radio slot, but the best case scenario will be if Barbara Simpson herself could reclaim her crown. That may never happen, even in the unlikely event that she is offered a spot on KSFO, it may be too late. The mutual trust may be gone for good. The Barbara was the Bay Area version of John Batchelor, so that's hard to replace.

  10. Christine is one of those very extremely annoying anthropomorphic people that loves animals more than humans.

As for ageism, Savage's has the wit and energy of a young man. According to his website, he is dominating Hannity in NYC.

Got to give him credit. Very very impressive.

    1. Wow...double superlatives! (very, extremely etc.). You use faulty logic to determine who I love too much, based on a posting about Mr. Savage's very close relationship with his poodle? I'll bet he loves that dog more than most people. Ask him. I consider myself very lucky to have a few close friends I've known forever . We have different political views in some instances, but each of us shares a love of animals.
I would sure as heck expect Savage to trump Hannity. Hannity is a rush wannabe who has been very successful beyond his limited abilities. Savage has oodles of real talent .
Obviously, I don't think age is a determinant of relevance for a talk host. . My post, noting his age, was made tongue in cheek. You can't, however have a standard that male hosts can be forever young, even when they are older than their female counterparts. That's just misogyny. Would you ever ask whether or not Michael Savage was someone women wanted to bleep?

    4. Hey, Christine, what's up with you? So you don't like "The View". Big deal. This was on in a package from CNN as well. See how unaccurate it is. You just can't take rejection, can you?.

"Today, watching women "journalists" on "The View" -- it was amazing what they said about how Barbara Walters was the inspiration to them. Not Christine Craft. Women who had to deal with breast feeding an 8-week old baby outside the green room at ABC.(Joan Lunden.) How Barbara was snubbed to ask only questions after the fifth one asked by Frank McGee. (Barbara Walters directly,)How she was to do only "women's fluff" and be "weather girl" on "Today." (Barbara Walters directly)

Mostly, she reached out to everyone from a bald headed Oprah in Baltimore (via Oprah) to a black comedienne in Whoopi Goldberg and told them just the opposite of what you claim you are. "Take it day-by-day. Do what they (men and management) say but never give up. Just be you. Be fair and equal in all that you do."

Your point? You're losing it, Christine. The battle of losing two jury judgements that were overturned and your denial by the US Supreme Court still irks the shit out of you doesn't it? As one article in Sacramento says, "She came back to California with less in her bank account than she had when she went to Kansas City."

I have seen your "display" at the Newseum. Thankfully, they only have one story about you as an activist. Oh, and a bad grammar student in college as well.

    5. 12:12...I don't watch daytime TV, in any event. I can't imagine why you would think, that on a program devoted to Barbara Walters and her accomplishments as she retires in her eighties, they would be talking about me.
I was an honors English major at UCSB.
I've never been a fan of Joan Blunden(actual name) who famously reported on that Russian newspaper,"Pravada"(I kid you not)
I"m very glad that I challenged the sexist practices in television news. I've never been to the Newseum, but am glad they acknowledge my contribution to broadcast workplace equity. I have no regrets about that, whatsoever.
When later, in law school, I discovered my case in textbooks, it was really quite terrific to realize that our litigation efforts were being acknowledged as part of the history of American civil rights.

  14. "...take note because a lot of what Savage says is pure and genuine..."

Maybe. But what's inauthentic is that he feels the need to hide his faith and heritage behind a fierce-sounding nom de guerre. I agree that Mr. Weiner is a unique and compelling voice in the talk radio landscape, but the words "pure" and "genuine" do not belong.

  15. If rumors of KSFO being aggressively being on the market are true, I can see the Dickey's "retool" KGO with a liberal / conservative blending using both "live and local" talent and syndication.

Shows they have on KSFO could, for the time being, be simulcast -- bring the KGO share up maybe 1 or, if lucky 2 shares. Been done in many markets. If being sold, I could see Cumulus put "Red Eye Radio" back on KGO midnight to 5. Could see them keep Sussman on KSFO only with Katie and let them be the new owners problem. Could put Spencer Silva on weekends or late nights 10--1.

They could put John Batchelor on 10 to midnight after Rothman. A good history combination between liberal and conservative talk at night. Savage in PM drive, maybe? 4-7 and dump the PM news block? (Plus, it saves a parking spot or two!).

I truly think they can do this and in serious consideration, they (Cumulus) protects it's biggest asset (Savage) for better clearance on AM's across the country on a monster signal here, they could salvage shows like Clear Channel did with Rush and Hannity IF they put Levin on, but I don't think they'd need to. I think KKSF would pick him up in a minute, as Levin is a Premier / Clear Channel show anyway. I can see them utilizing Gil Gross after he gets canned from KKSF if this happens but not for three hours. All shifts woud be shorter, but a good mix of lib and con talk, news, weather, traffic and sports if they got Cal, Raiders, etc. Just thinkin'. Hi, Lew - welcome back to San Francisco. Call us, we've got some ideas for you.

    1. Cumulus, not Premiere, distributes Mark Levin Show. But Premiere is the new Hannity radio distributor effective this year.

    2. Sorry, Andrew, my bad. You are correct. Having heard Hannity suck up to "The Great One" so many times when Hannity was split with both Cumulus and Clear Channel before going solely to Premier, I got mixed up. Good call and thanks. No Levin on KKSF, then or on 960.

    3. If changes are to be made please no Sussman and Katie anywhere near a microphone, they are insufferable, I don't think much of Red Eye, just don't care for the format, and they very few times I have listened it seems to be a rehash of conservative talk during the day. I like John Batchlor I don't always agree, but clearly the man is intelligent, he also has some class, don't need to yell and scream to get his point across, and please no Gil Gross, his show was going down hill when he was on KGO and has only gotten worse and worse. It is not a right or left issue, but there are so many right wing hosts in this area we don't need more, at least not of the current crop, who seem to be pretty much follow the same talking points, supposedly Savage does not, but the few minutes I listen to him a couple of times a week, he really can't hold my interest, still screams, rants and carries on and on about liberal and Obama.
