The Cloud Company Outsources Traffic People Out Of the Hawthorne Cluster

That company mattress man says is so good to him apparently outsourced a good many of its traffic people on Thursday. Supposedly the layoffs will be official today.

Stay classy, Cloud people.

  1. When I heard a KGO traffic reporter say "San Raphael" in a Texas twang last night I knew something was up.

    1. That and Vy-a-ho (for Vallejo) will be the signs for sure! And all the nicknames we're used to--"the maze," "hospital curve," "Novato narrows"--will, I assume, go away.

  2. Oh great. Now we've got Indians doing traffic. From where? Bombay?

  3. Just more proof that turning KGO into News was a massive mistake. Yet it's a mistake paid for by local Bay Area employees, and not anyone living in Atlanta and Dallas. They should be proud of what they've done for America.

  4. Well, KFOG has been using "NBC Bay Area" traffic reports in the morning for months. Which struck me as odd -- wouldn't that cost more than using their in-house people? -- but maybe it's NBC that's paying Cumulus for the exposure?

    1. Most likely neither is paying the other. It's just a cross-promotional thing.

  5. KSFO must be using the same traffic guy in the afternoon. I've also heard him pronounce "San Rafael" with the Spanish, non-Bay Area pronunciation. As if that weren't enough, a couple of days ago he said "Gorn-ville" for "Gurneville." It's just beyond belief.

  7. KGO has lost all the class that talk show hosts such as Gene Burns provided. Friday, Ronn Owens hosted the bottom of the barrel, Gilbert Gottfried. I remember last time Gilbert was on, Gene Burns devoted his first hour of his program to how bad it was to have Gilbert on, talking about all the fine Jewish Ass women... Unfortunately, KGO no longer has anyone with class enough to bring Mr. Owens to task for guests such as Gottried. Not surprising the classless Chef, Ryan Scott, continues with Secret Asian Man..
