Univision TV News Crew Pepper-Sprayed/Robbed in the Mission

SFPD are seeking two suspects who pepper-sprayed an Univision TV news crew and stole their camera in the Mission District on Monday night.

The robbery was reported at about 6:25 in the 1100 block of Valencia St.

The crew was breaking down their equipment after filming in the area when two male suspects believed to be in their late teens ran up from behind and pepper-sprayed them. Soon after, the two suspects--believed to be in their late teens, took the camera and fled west toward San Jose Ave.

The Univision crew, 4 males, were treated for eye irritation at the scene and released.

SFPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident call the anonymous tip line: 415-575-4444.

    1. Why wouldn't they? It is a good chance it could be some trust fund mission district "hipsters" slumming for a bit for the "experience".

    2. A crime that wasn't in the Bayview?

    3. I'm betting it wasn't committed by "one of their own," but if you're accusing them of censorship you're an asshole.

    4. Did the police need an interpreter when they asked them what happened?

    5. Your ignorance is amazing. You may find it hard to beleive that many anchors and reporters at Univison and telemundo are at least bilingual.
My last trip to LA I saw three reporters on air on KNBC, KTTV and KABC who got their first gigs in Spanish language tv. It sure beats working in South Dakota or Idaho to cut your teeth, and if you can speak two languages, why not?
