TV, Radio, Internet...dishing dirt since 2001
Losing all Progressive Radio has been a shock! Except for Randi Rhodes on 910, now cut from 3-hours to 2.So...the ONLY way we can listen to Chicago Progressive Radio is to purchase a refurbish android phone? Someone suggested Ebay...what would be a fair price to pay? This is a concerted effort to silence Liberals...Now all that can be heard on our precious airwaves:'HATE OBAMA, HATE LIBERALS...HATE HATE HATE!"Political opinions expressed on talk radio are approaching the level of uniformity that would normally be achieved only in a totalitarian society!RightWing Republican domination of political talk radio in this country has been accomplished without guns or gulags".More brainwashing of America!http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jensenko/the-brainwashing-of-my-dad-documentary
You really do drink the Kool-Aid (that's all I'll say. I deleted the long drawn out criticism of your wacky comments)
Don't sweat the price on the phone 47%er. Barry probably has a subsidy for it that he'll eagerly burden the tax paying republicans with.Hope this helps!
I would imagine you could listen online, no? Still trying to figure out the point of this post. Rich seems to make a lot of pointless posts, and this could be at the top. Rich, do you have something to say about why the death of terrestrial radio is upon is? Proof? Numbers? Anything?
Green 960 went to progressive radio 24/7 to half half con, half progressive, now all Con crazy talk. I don't know how you Cons can stomach this non-stop Obama bashing, racist, sexist intolerant hateful sh*t!! All radio now is sports, right wing kooky talk and Spanish stations. Glad NPR hasn't been taken over by the Cons. 910 still has 2 hours of Randi and Alan Colmes at night. KGO has Karel and Pat Thurston for lib talk. I'll get my fix some how.
I checked in with 910 today to listen to the new person at 1:00, but she had a substitute who was awful. I might find Randy Rhodes awful, too. We'll see. I like Pat Thurston, KGO, as a person, but can't agree on her positions so I change stations. The only liberal one I like is Alan Combs. I miss the old KGO left of middle crew and I can deal with right of middle, too, depending on the issue and the talk show host. I didn't mind Rich because he could be funny and his politics were okay with me. Ronn is the only one I can relate to depending on his topic. I am moving toward music these days.
It sickens me how so many have a need to label others as liberal or conservative, right wing or left wing, perpetuating the revulsion of one side for the other. It is not an intelligent perspective; it is not conducive to any kind of personal dignity, and it does not advance the position of any of us as brothers and sisters, neighbors, and fellow travelers on this planet. It only divides. It only separates. It only tears down, and tears away from the good of the whole. If truth be told, we all have some liberal in us, and we all have some conservative. That we are afraid to recognize in ourselves the side we wish not to be know as, and only recognize in others the side that we wish to demean says even more about our own inadequacy than it does about our ideology. Can we stop blaming others for our own unhappiness, and begin to find some common ground for agreement for a change? There is no honest dialogue anymore because there is no longer a wish for common ground. There is only the need to be right. And it has proven to be devastating to the psyche of our families, our communities, and our country. When is the last time you heard someone say, "Y'know, you may be right?" When is the last time you said those words to someone else?
Who the hell listens to RADIO anymore?Tune-In Radio is my new best friend: MUSIC...no talking-heads (I get enough of this at work). Not only do I get to listen to music, but it's commercial-free....AND...I get to pick my own genre! Depending on my mood, I'll listen to Jazz, Classic Rock, Salsa...and when I want to catch up on non-biased/non-homerism sports, I listen to ESPN radio. At work on my main computer....on my laptop...or on my iPhone 5 (which I can "Blue-Tooth" to my car radio)... I now listen to Tune-In radio.PS--I moved to San Francisco seven months ago. I have NO IDEA who these radio hosts are that Rich or you radio-heads keep spewing about. Thanks to all of these comments/posts, I don't think I'll ever want to listen to find out just who they are!
7.02 am, Welcome to the Bay Area! I have lived here since leaving the Navy in 1983. I was on The Enterprise, a huge ship that was tied up in Alameda. There used to be a vast Naval Base in Alameda, until we decided to rebudget and restructure the economy. The Clinton Mistake was to think we didn't need these bases anymore. To answer your question, who still listens to RADIO? I presumed you meant terresitrial radio. There are actually quite a few hundred thousand of us who still do. It so happens that most those still tuning into terrestrial are older than the preferred demographic of, what is it? those 24 to 54 years old, I believe. I may end up branching out to the newer forms of radio, but for as long as it is available, I for one, like the immediacy and the SIMPLICITY of selecting and tuning into a radio station. You already show good potential of becoming another Radio-Head, because you care enough about the topic to voice your opinion. Those News-Deniers who truly don't care, don't come here, or don't stay that long. That you are here speaking to us, shows that you feel you have something to offer, and yes, you do. Thanks for your input. You are cordially invited to seek out the nearest Tea Party chat group where we practice politeness before partisanship, the way things used to be everywhere. Oh by the way, some of the best entertainment can be found on some (not all) of the commercials. A few a quite clever.
I think you hit on something that is very important. The closure of Naval facilities in big coastal cities and other military bases across this country was a huge mistake. We will rue the day, imho.
No surprise that 55 Anonymous sock puppet right-wing commenters appear on cue to cry out that "lib-tard this" and "libtard that" are not worthy of being on the public airwaves because of one thing or another. Is it possible that these fascist RWs have nothing else to do with themselves?Of course, they can also repeat talking points aboutunions, feminazis, people who don't like being shot, democratic voters, black people, black presidents, Subaru owners, gay people, anyone that doesn't agree with Fat Limbaugh... and the list goes on. Oh, what about BEHGHAZI (must be capitalized) ?
It was so refreshing today to hear John Rothmann in for Gil Gross in actual dialogue with listeners rather than "experts" from around the country. We can always read what the Politico people, media people, politicians, and all the rest think by reading their opinions in the various news outlets. I enjoy hearing what real people in the area are thinking on the topics of the day. It's also not just a repeat of all the stories (mostly all taken from the internet news sites) that previous hosts all day long have given their take on. Why oh why is not one station willing to go back to this much more interesting format. They all do the same show, just with different hosts.
You are so right, I only heard bits and piece of John's show, since I was at work, so it was only on my lunch and break time I could listen. However, you are right on, Ed Baxter sat in for Frosty for several days, and one day for Gil, even though his format was similar to Gil's I find him easier listening and more interesting than Gil. 910 is an up side down world , the fill in host are better than the regular hosts. I like you am totally baffled by their programming, and Gil try to tell us, no one does call in radio anymore. Baloney, John does and he gets calls,. good calls, even on a slow week.
I can't stand talk radio and the blowhards so I listen to music in my car. And since my car is a little older I have Sirius. Love it. No commercials and during football season I can listen to any game while I am on the road. I honestly have no use for local radio unless I need a traffic update or want to listen to a game because I am not in front of a TV.
Offshore internet radio is the bomb! such as www.1.fmThey insert "only 1" local commercial per hour.No babble or DJ either. ALL MUSIC.I tried listening to KOIT once ... OMG...Thats as good as it gets?......OMG...HorribleWhats with all the repeats ? KOIT ? .... Click..OFF
Who's the gorgeous young babe who's picture graces this post Rich? Your new girlfriend? Lucky for you if she is cause she's a HOTTIE!
