95.7 The Game Drops Sean O'Connell And Matt Steinmetz Show

The Game, (95.7 FM All_Sports),  just bounced Sean O'Connell and Matt Steinmetz. A producer too. What a coincidence! It would appear ratings are the reason. They usually are.

A replacement is to be announced on Friday.

We'll follow this but it isn't at the top of our priority list.

  1. The Game keeps dropping the wrong person. They need to drop the dropper. Talk about a job in the Bay Area that is held by someone who has no idea what he's doing, the PD position at 95.7 is that job.

  2. Steinmetz and Wolford would have worked, been funny, worth listening to. I know I would have.
KNBR had some new voice today on traffic. Sure as hell wasn't Asian,Latin,or Black. Don't recall his name, but I'm sure the first wasn't Jose or Ting. Lee Hammer is the luckiest bigot in the country.

    1. Oh, that's a fascinating point. I know all of us are dying for a traffic reporter named Jose or Ting.

    2. It's uncanny, bigots have the easiest time identifying their own kind.

    3. Really 923? But only one of us is doing the hiring of his own kind,so I guess we aren't the same huh?. Hammer perpetuates bigotry..and so does Barret.

  4. Stienmetz is funny and feel like he has something to say, he just needs a different partner.

  5. Too bad; they are both smart and funny.

  6. It's a shame. Steinmetz was bluntly honest about the Warriors when they were lousy. He needed a stronger partner. I never liked Sean O'Connell.

  7. Yeah, their goofy jock-er-dee with Dibley and Kriedler was a looong bit but pretty engaging. Steinmetz is anything but smooth. His knowledge and curmudgeonly passion was good though. O.C. was straight mid-west vanilla....no bad, just no substance.

  8. Wow, not even a hat tip for clueing you to the story? You stay classy, Rich.

  9. Outside of their really bad content (listen at about 12:03 on any weekday and you can hear John Lund screaming at the top of his lungs, most annoying sound on earth), this is just another reason why The Game will cause less of a ripple than a faint fart in KNBR's universe. While KNBR has some of the worst shows (See: Fitz & Brooks, Damon Bruce, Murph & Mac) and some of the worst hosts (See above) they also have some consistency.

I saw the PD for The Game at a 49ers game at Candlestick one time and wow, the guy was just lost. Totally lost. My guess is the replacement for "OC and Steiny" turns out to be a new blowhard from New York in the Brandon Tierney ear-bleeding, nails on a chalkboard mold.

    1. It won't be Tierney. He works for 95.7's competition now.

  10. Everything the game does is good enough if you're the only show in town. Trying to rise up over Goliath? Sorry but they don't have the intellectual leader capable of pulling that off.

  11. they have traded 2 white guys who never played the sports they mostly talk about for 2 more of the same ilk. Surprise!!

  12. OC 's personality was really starting to shine thru. I listened almost everyday. The two replacements are subpar. Haberman is dry, the other guy, annoys the hell out of me. OC will be a star somewhere. The Game made a big mistake.

  13. Anthing on 95.7 is better than what OLD 'N BUSTED has too offer!

  14. Who the f...cares anyway? They were both a couple of losers, but that idiot Barrett will put some other imbecile on the air in their place. Wasn't he the guy that actually gave 'Guru' a job off the street because he won some kind of contest? That's small-time amateur radio!

  15. When, oh when, oh when, is Dibley gone??!? PLEASE, God.... Brought his old & busted shtick that was long since tired at his old gig.

  16. I happen to like Dibs. He's enthusiastic, has good sports knowledge, and is friendly and positive. The Game was lucky to have poached him from KNBR. I guess Hammer didn't want to pay him enough, so he hired that awful Kate Scott to take his place. What a mistake! So Why don't you lighten up 7:41am? You got a problem with quality radio? Go listen to the morning fratboys and Kate Scott if you don't like Dibs!

    1. No, I don't have a problem with "quality radio." I have a problem with Dibs. Yeah, he is knowledgeable, i'll give him that. But the faux argumentative shtick is trite and tiresome. I wish Hammer had kept him, too... Then he coulda stayed Gary's toady, I wouldn't have to hear him, and both your listening experience and mine would be more pleasant.

  17. Steiney will be missed. I dig his dry wit and honest take on the locals (not a homer).

Bad move by da Game. I pray they shitcan the GM before they move Papa next.

  18. Doesn't matter which time slot you listen to, it's all the same! They rehash the same questions and arguments every hour, all day long, show after show. I can hear the same talking point on Towney & Bucher on the way home that I heard on The Rise Guys on the way to work in the morning. Gets boring.

    1. That is so true!! I'm driving home and that loud mouth Towney is talking about the same crap that Kreid-bot and his crew talked about in the morning, get some new material. And half the time, Towney doesn't even finish his sentence..he just blabbers and blabbers and runs out of breath and just stops...listen and you'll see....and he right down creapy during the G-Spot and such....looser!!
