I'm going to guess,everybody you rubbed wrong at KNBR- mostly- wrote anonymous email to Zwerling saying they would never listen,etc,etc. And he's reacting.
I would say Rich is just another victim of media people screwing you. It's happened to me. Monday they say one thing. Tuesday they say something else. Wednesday a third thing, etc.. This is not unusual. .
The announcement had FIASCO written all over it from the start. It didn't make sense that they'd dump five "what's left" hosts to put Rich in their place. Where were those hosts supposed to move? What I still don't understand is why was the KOMY show completely canned? Too many unanswered questions.
Rich, what happened!? You have my full sympathy. Despite all the hype and promotion for your new program to be aired on KSCO, you are nowhere to be found on the radio dial, big guy! The silence is deafening.
Technical glitches (like those that plagued your start on KOMY late last year?), a contract dispute over residuals from promoting vitamin supplements, or did MZ and/or his mother have a last minute change of heart? Did they get cold feet because of the barrage of naysayers slamming you and your show or because an advertiser backed out?
MZ's programming consultant, Glenn, had said on a recent "Saturday Special," despite an onslaught of negative callers bashing you, that you were the key to rebranding, rebuilding and repositioning MZ's mighty KSCO, AM 1080. But your promised 2-4 slot has been given to someone else. Worse still, you're not even on sister station from Watsonville, KOMY, AM 1340, broadcasting with 1,000 watts of power. Since you are the trusted blogger I turn to for the latest news and gossip about Bay Area media, I was hoping you would know the answer. I mean the same Rich that knows what's going on inside KRON, KTVU and KPIX hasn't a clue what's going on with the station that was supposed to air his program? I'm not blaming you, big guy. You are loved and I want you back on KSCO/KOMY.
It's a dark and dreary day in the lofty hills of Piedmont without "Lieberman Live" on the air.
Do we need to start calling KSCO/KOMY and emailing MZ? I hope he's reading this (and Kay too).
I haven't heard the show. Did Rich reference little Mexico near the Boardwalk and that upset the Santa Cruz liberals that turn a blind eye to the brown invasion with its brown crime that's taking over the city? Just wondering.
It's already happening all over the Bay Area. They can just swim and come ashore there. It's much easier from a strategical standpoint.
You notice- its SANTA CRUZ,not Saint Cruz?. Like Jay Leno who just noticed- lots of Mexicans in Los Angeles. Uh Jay,same thing,its called Los Angeles and not The Angels, for a historical reason that goes back centuries.
Sorry you got the Zwerling shaft. They are a ruthless pair. The old lady runs the whole show, no matter what Jr. says. You were sounding good. There's better stations than Zwerling central. Jr. will never be his own man as long as Mommy holds the money accounts! It's her way or the highway. Thank your lucky stars!
My guess, and I could be wrong, is that when Rich said few weeks ago "I masturbated this morning," Kay and the Bluehairs got blown into an absolute tizzy. It didn't phase me, but I could see Mama Z having a complete and total fit. One would think though, that MZ would have the balls to tell Rich that he is toast, if in fact he is.
That is interesting because I heard Rich make that comment and the image was a turn off, so I did turn off that station and switched to another. A lot of times I enjoyed Rich's quirky show, but I think he was being stupid by saying that he had masturbated that day. It just wasn't good radio. I've been out of town so I don't know what is happening with his show, but I would like him to stay on the air. I just wish he wouldn't do dumb, disgusting stuff.
Indeed. Mr. Transparency with a fedora is suddenly hiding behind a mumbo jumbo post cloaked with carefully chosen words that say nothing. Deep down he knows he got shafted but he doesn't want to burn any bridges....yet. Just in case. Btw what happened with MZ's imminent purchase of a radio station in SF? Big Rich reported MZ purchased a penthouse in North Beach to scout the radio terrain. Yeah yeah, sure sure.
