KGO Radio's Jones-Lee Returns to Airwaves After Lengthy Absence, Then Is Gone Again; Mystery at 55 Hawthorne

 Mystery...

KGO Radio Morning anchor, Jennifer Jones-Lee, returned to the airwaves on Monday after a lengthy medical leave.

On Tuesday, Jones-Lee was again absent from the anchor desk.

My sources at KGO have been tight-lipped about JL's situation and frankly, medical issues are private. I heard one account, from a second-hand insider that caused me concern.

I will not report and never have any personal/medical issues.

My only concern regarding Jones-Lee is that after only one day back after missing nearly a month, she's gone again.

Isn't that exactly what you are doing?

    1. That was my take.

The bay bridge eastern span is one day closer to it's eventual collapse though...

    2. Hey dummy, Richard didn't report on anything specific. There are plenty of things to criticize Richard for and this petty attempt by you isn't one of them.

    3. @10:19 Lieberman is gratuitously revealing to the world that Ms.Jones-Lee may have "concerning" personal/medical. issues which he refrains from mentioning specifically.

This raises all kinds of unnecessary speculation about the nature of her problems and is actually worse than revealing any specific problem.

    4. "Isn't that exactly what you are doing?"

Yep. It's the childish "I know something you don't know," gossip tactic.

Can't you just leave it alone, Rich?????

  3. Best wishes to Ms. Jones-Lee. I always enjoy hearing her, despite the wrinkled trolls who seem to never have anything good to say about anyone.

Kudos to you, Rich, for not disclosing her private situation. I think 4:32 didn't get it. Oh well.

    1. Auntie L, you're the one who doesn't get it.

Rich is tarring this person unnecessarily by revealing she is facing some serious personal problems and then pats himself on the back for not being more specific.

This is nothing more than gossipy innuendo with a self-serving proclamation about his own discretion and compassion.

  4. O/T: did anyone else catch KPIX identifying (with mugshots, no less) the 14 and 12 year old girls arrested in Florida for that Facebook bullying suicide case? The CBS Evening news minutes later reported the story without identifying the juveniles.

    1. There is no reason(in the legal sense) why news organizations are barred from showing the faces and giving the names of suspects of any age. It has been the practice of news orgs not to do it..because the precious little darlings "deserve a second chance". Often, they don't.

    2. Minors are treated differently than adults in our society for a variety of reasons. They are denied certain privileges of adulthood and are prohibited from certain activities.

Christine is correct that there are no legal reasons that news organizations are barred from giving names and showing faces of juvenile defendants.

But her claim that news organizations refrain from doing so "because the precious little darlings deserve a second chance" is entirely an interpretation of her own.

Where did she come up with that? I'm sure she'll let us know.

    3. Perhaps esteemed legal scholar Craft isn't familiar with United States Supreme Court cases Roper v. Simmons, Graham v. Florida, and Miller v. Alabama which acknowledge differences between the juvenile and adult brains.

Perhaps Ms. Craft no longer pays attention to US Supreme Court decisions since that court appropriately declined to grant review of her own famous LOSING case.

    4. 2:59...So which of these cases makes it against the law (any law) to publish the names of juvenile suspects?Maryland law?
As for our writ to the SCUS, which I wrote about in my book, do you typically think that double jury verdicts and jury fact finding should have little weight?

    5. Poor Christine still believes the US Supreme Court was mistaken in refusing to hear her case. Great that you wrote about it in your famous book but no matter how you spin it, YOU STILL LOST. Get over it.

  5. Thank you, anon 4:32pm - I was about to say the same thing. People are tight-lipped because this is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, nor anyone else's.

  7. 12:32 I don't know if you've ever worked as a reporter, but I can recall many conversations between reporters and news directors about why we don't identify juveniles. There is no law barring it, which is what I said initially. The general consensus on this topic, at least from the many stations where I worked in a long tv career, was that the public doesn't want to ruin the lives of young miscreants and will dislike a news organization that spills the beans. Is this really so difficult for you?

    1. Christine, make up your mind. Do news organizations withhold the names of juvenile defendants because the public may dislike them if they do, as you've just said here OR "because he precious little darlings deserve a second chance" as you claimed at 12:32?

      Which is it?

  8. All you people really suck. This is about Jennifer Jones Lee, not all of your other stupid comments that have nothing to do with this subject. Please go elsewhere to post your bull shit. Stay on topic.

  9. From this morning's KGO Listener Club Newsletter:

"Happy employees are usually good employees, but nothing kills productivity faster than poor morale. KGO's Cathy Whitman takes a look at a study that reveals the number one morale killer in the workplace and the boss that really brings people down: the micromanaging manager."

I wish Jennifer Jones Lee all the best - it's really sad what major stress can do to a body...I hope she'll be ok.
