Exclusive: Talk Radio Network To Shut Down; Oregon Radio Syndicate Once Had Savage, Ingraham; Update: TRN Out

TALK RADIO NETWORK TO SHUT DOWN OPERATIONS BY FRIDAY OR SOONER

Talk Radio Network is shutting down, according to several of my radio sources.

The Oregon-based syndicate has been battling a series of financial problems and in the process, has lost much of its air talent.

It was also dealt a significant blow when its star host, Michael Savage left the network after a court battle in which Savage won.

Laura Ingraham also recently left TRN. And locally, Bill Wattenburg, who did a Sunday night show from 8-11 PM, is running a "Best Of" show Sunday evening.

UPDATE: 2: 31 PM PT: My sources have now told me that TRN has, in fact, already shut down operations as of last Friday.

  1. Does this mean that KSFO goes quiet tomorrow from 3:00AM to 5:00AM when America's Morning News is supposed to air?

  2. Thank you 2.19, for bringing up America's Morning News at all. I have been wondering for days where the female co-host was, and if she would be returning. John McCaslin says nothing, which is not a good sign. J. McCaslin has gone through about six co-hosts, all women, some were fairly good. like Melanie Morgan, but left for personal reasons. John may be one of those men who work best with other guys. If he truly prefers a woman co-host, maybe he should have two or three 'radio wives'. The listener is always the last to know of any big changes.

Any word on how that contest to "Win lunch with Brian Susmann or Katie Green" is working out? I would be most curious. I rarely listen to that show anymore, too much sport-yelling and potty mouth remarks. Apparently though, somebody out there DOES like this approach, or Suss would have been weeded out by now.

  3. Perhaps this explains why Dr. Bill suddenly resurfaced on KSCO to host last week as fill in. Savage is the Teflon Don of radio. The guy seems to bolt from stations and/or situations where sh*t's about to hit the fan. Did anyone catch the insufferable Spencer "me llamo José" Hughes today filling in for MY radio rabbi Daniel Lapin!? He's worse than when he was at KGO. At the end of the show today José almost begged for more fill in hours on KSFO.

  4. The BEST of Wattenberg? That would be the one, among many, where he repeatedly talks over the folks he argues with, insults others, kisses up to the truck drivers(so they'll keep listening to his show), reminding them he used to be one of them, and in general mouths the Republican talking points. He loves to protect the loggers and disparage the Forest Service, yet he contracts with them to provide bulldozers used in fighting fires, and his mining interests include the leveling of mountain tops, which led to his being sued by the Government. And he claims to be a conservationist, living "somewhere" in a mountain cabin. Good old Willard Wattenburg.

  5. What is wrong with mining your own Land?

  6. John McCaslin is working without pay today in a deal to get other employees paid. He is a good guy and a good friend. Dana Mills was let go from TRN. They had awesome chemistry and she is sorely missed.

  7. Bill Wattenburg's "mountain cabin" is a gorgeous mountain hideaway compound, actually more beautiful than most resorts. That's not his only dwelling. Not all of his views are "conservative" or "right-wing". He's very live and let-live on most social issues.(actually as a true conservative would be.

    1. Oh, of course Christine wants the world to know that she's been to Wattenburg's "gorgeous mountain hideaway." And let's not forget that she was on Letterman's show 50 years ago.

    2. Re; 10;13am Who is that out there, so hot and bothered that Christine has had a fun adventure in the hills? For that, I bestow on you the name of NAACP's former director, punctuation included; Ben Jealous?

  8. If Rich's sources have told him "that TRN has, in fact, already shut down operations as of last Friday," then it might be time for him to find different sources.

    That information is incorrect.

Mr. Lieberman, please confirm your stories.

    1. You are either a still-paid TRN hack or a misinformed dweeb.

Masters can spin as much as he wants: The show is over even if he uses the term, "re-structure."

In fact, a person I know well didn't get a paycheck over the weekend.

      Buh, bye.

    2. Quite unprofessional for Lieberman to attack anyone who raises legitimate questions about the accuracy of this story.

Apparently, TRN HAS NOT shut down all operations.

    3. Well Rich was right about Dr. Bill's program being a repeat, even though 910 didn't acknowledge it. It was a program from only 2 or 3 weeks ago.
