Remember Mancow, The Radio Guy Who Had a Haircut On The Bay Bridge?; Radnich-Bennett 'Spat' on KRON Puppy Love; Yeah, There's a Drought and KPIX5 Paul Deanno Has Huge Sideburns; Friday Starter

Mancow Muller
Erich “Mancow” Muller has departed TRN and is going into new ventures on his own.

You might remember it was Mancow that made headlines here many years ago by having a haircut on the Bay Bridge and causing a major traffic nightmare.

His station, (KSOL at the time) and its owner were fined 500 grand. He left the Bay Area and proceeded to make millions in Chicago radio and the rest is history.

If radio fails maybe Mancow could work for Chris Christie.

*Don't be all worked up over that alleged on-air cursing spat between Gary Radnich and weather chick, Jackie Bennett Thursday night on KRON.

I didn't see it but got a few e-mails. I don't think it was anything more than some innocent puppy love between Raddy and the high-pressure priestess with the tight top.

*The faux concerned-look by local anchors when the weather guessers tell us, piously, that there's no rain in sight continues to both irritate and amuse me. As if they're the executioner about to lower the boom on the body. Guys, enough already, we get periodic droughts and then we get enough rain to flood all the BMW's ever purchased in Marin. We'll get through all of this and nobody will get hurt except our pocketbook from the water mafia companies.

*Yo, Paul Deanno, KPIX weatherman: Dude, what's with the uber-sideburns? Trying to court the Fremont ladder demo?

A Thought About Melanie Morgan And KSFO From The Radio Sage

From a radio sage with a little more gumption than you think...

You know, if KSFO were really smart, (BIG IF), management would fire the current morning show and re-create America's Morning News, it's former lead-in as a center-right news show …John McCaslin is out of work and looking to move West…

Melanie Morgan is not under contract currently.
That way KSFO could get off the no-buy list.

But that is supposing that Cumulus really cares about ratings. Which most people agree they don't.

Exclusive: TRN Down and Out; Oregon Staffers Given Severance While East Coast Employees Left in Lurch; The Real Story You Only Get Here

This is NO spin.

This is NO double talk.

Not a silly press release that the trades have bought hook, line and sinker, not to mention a host of radio trolls and misinformed broadcast people.

And a whole bunch of people have been baited and switched with regard to what's really transpired at the life support corral in radio Oregon known as Talk Radio Network, the syndicate that is essentially living on fumes. The doofus patrol has bought the Kool-Aid. TRN is down and out. Maybe the buildings are still operational but people are not getting paid and several are now working for free looking for the tooth fairy.

My sources are impeccable. I know this might shock you but I have been told the real story, not the charred falsely-stated puff coming out of the mouth of TRN's head suit, Mark Masters.

Here's the situation, from multiple connections in the industry--

Several informed sources tell me the Washington crowd is furious. Several have lawyered up. Masters paid severance for Oregon employees but left the East Coast Operations in the lurch, owed thousands and thousands of dollars.

One employee said: "Spread the word Mark Masters is crazy. He refuses to take any responsibility for his company and what happened to it. He blamed everyone else."

One on-air talent is in the middle of breast cancer treatment and didn't get a dime in severance. I can't use her name because she asked me not to.

Dana Mills, (from America's Morning News)- was the lucky one. She got fired a month ago and got all her money. She's now in Florida looking for employment.

And finally, this note about Rusty Humphries from Inside RadioThey're done.

Exclusive: Talk Radio Network To Shut Down; Oregon Radio Syndicate Once Had Savage, Ingraham; Update: TRN Out

TALK RADIO NETWORK TO SHUT DOWN OPERATIONS BY FRIDAY OR SOONER

Talk Radio Network is shutting down, according to several of my radio sources.

The Oregon-based syndicate has been battling a series of financial problems and in the process, has lost much of its air talent.

It was also dealt a significant blow when its star host, Michael Savage left the network after a court battle in which Savage won.

Laura Ingraham also recently left TRN. And locally, Bill Wattenburg, who did a Sunday night show from 8-11 PM, is running a "Best Of" show Sunday evening.

*Developing...

UPDATE: 2: 31 PM PT: My sources have now told me that TRN has, in fact, already shut down operations as of last Friday.
