Passover 2013: Mixed Blessings

This is not going to be the happiest Passover as I have issues.

Thanks to all of you who took the time to write and send well wishes for Mom as she recovers from a really bad fall. She's doing better but 5 broken ribs is tough stuff for anybody, let alone a 90 year-old woman, but she'll get through it.

*I'm taking a few days off from the radio show to care for her but hope to be back on Wednesday from 1-4 PM with ex-KGO-TV weatherman, Pete Giddings, and CBS News Washington bureau chief and correspondent, Dan Raviv.

*In case I forgot, Happy Passover and Easter to all of you; readers, radio listeners, my advertisers, and all the staff at KSCO/KOMY and media professionals in the Bay Area and beyond.

One thing that I have learned, again, is that life is precious. Take care of yourself and your loved ones and don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short.

*I will be posting periodically for the next few days. Which is just as well because I'm a total wreck.

  1. Glad you're taking care of your mom Rich. She has been there I'm sure, for you through the years and there is nothing like a parent's love and support. 90 years old...that's great! I hope she feels better!

  2. Mazeltov, Ricardo. You're going to be sorely missed on the airwaves today and tomorrow. I guess I'll have to listen to Hannity and Tillem instead. I'm praying for you and your mother.

  3. You are a good son. Your mother taught you well. Happy Passover to you and your family, and prayers for healing.

  4. A speedy recovery to your mom, Rich & God bless her wonderful son. Hope you get some peace during this season.

  5. Best wishes in you & your Mother's recovery.

  6. Hey Rich! You're NUMBER ONE, baby! Yeah, you.

YOU host the best talk show on radio today.

You have great guests and they keep getting better and, what's more, you ask the questions that other interviewers don't dare ask or can't think of.

It's been said before and I'll say it again: You're a cocktail combining equal parts of Michael Krasny, Howard Stern and Dr. Michael Savage.

Since you won't be on the radio today and tomorrow, I'll be listening instead to podcasts of a few your shows that I've missed.

So sorry to hear about your mom. She's lucky to have such a considerate and caring son as you.

  7. best holiday wishes to you and Mom. may you both be well!

  8. I'm sorry to hear you're a "total wreck." No doubt your critics are likely to pounce on this self admission, which lays bare your vulnerable side. Suffice it to say, however, that you're a man of incredible talent and a welcome addition to Bay Area radio. Being in radio once myself for several years, I admit to several twinges of jealousy. Praying for your mother's recovery and for you to put the pieces back together again.

  9. Missed YOU and "Lieberman Live" today.

  10. Rich - Miss you on "Lieberman Live" and hope you'll be back on Wednesday. I love the way you went full throttle after Ronn Owens last week, "taking the gloves off," as you put it. I love it when you give full vent to your feelings. You've come a long way since your debut to create one of the best radio talk-shows and you've raised the bar for the medium of talk radio to dizzying new heights. You connect with your guests and your listeners in a way that few others do.

  11. You're a "schmuck" and at times a pain in the posterior, but I have to give you credit for the uncompromising and objective coverage you provide of the Bay Area media in this column. And, as much as it pains me to admit, you've shown a side of you on your radio talk show that I've grudgingly and slowly come to admire. You have your moments of conscience, idealism, and you care--perhaps too much. You're more than just another commodity in the American radio entertainment marketplace. You've shown yourself to be a man who doesn't compromise his ethics and doesn't back down from confrontation. You're a provocateur and catalyst for quality talk radio, reinventing and revitalizing a format that had become lame, stale and formulaic. So give yourself a much deserved pat on the back, Rich.

  12. You're a hard-hitting, straight-talking hero in the radio biz and a media pundit extraordinaire.

Memo to Clear Channel and Cumulus execs:
Are you listening to this guy Lieberman on KOMY 1340? Wake up and smell the coffee. You're idiots committing corporate suicide if you don't recognize his great talent and syndicate his high-quality show across the nation.

  13. Does anyone know the date that Rich went after Owens on air? I'd like to listen to the podcast!

Rich--take care of yourself. It's easy to get stretched thin when a family member is sick. Very best to you and your mama.

    1. Could it be 3rd hr Mar 19th
