Late KGO Radio Posts; Business Reporter Lynn Jimezez leaving to tend to ailing father

Lynn Jimenez, KGO Radio's business editor for over 23 years is leaving the station at the end of the month.

Jimenez isn't being forced out--she's been attending to her ailing father and wants to spend more time at home to care for him.

*Other KGO notes:

*Contrary to what you might have heard, the contributors and part-time reporters are gone, (all the Chronicle folks like Michael Bauer and Chuck Nevius.) And soon, more part-time reporters. Many of the senior staff have had increasing workloads--there's a reason for that.

*Rumors about the switch back to talk continue to make the rounds...again, most of the shows would be syndicated programs, real-estate shows, out-of-town content and the like that don't require a lot of personnel other than those who can push a button.

*There's a KGO producer tool that is despised by almost everybody in the newsroom: if you like boot-licking they're having an over/under party at Grumpy's on how many boots you'd lick. So far, it's about 10 a day. You're a run-away winner. Keep on kissing.

  1. Another really talented, vibrant person leaves the wrath og KGO. What a tremendous loss. Get rid of all the talent and you have a silent station. We'll never see the likes of Gil Gross,
Ed Baxter, Gene Burns, John or Ray again at one
very great time. If this is progress, give me the Golden Age!

  2. Lynn Jimenez , one of the coolest people ever in the broadcasting business, gave her dad a kidney, if you'll recall, saving his life. She's a wonderful financial reporter and host and one of the most gracious people you could ever know, beloved by so many in the bay area. I'm not surprised at all that she would leave work she loves to help her dad now. I wouldn't read anything else into it, frankly, than just a wonderful daughter who really loves her dad.

    1. I never knew about the kidney. I don't know much about her but now I have all the respect in the world for her. God bless her and her father.

  5. Real estate shows? Who the hell listens to real estate shows? Is there actually an audience for such shows? I don't know anybody who says, "Ooohhh...it's 3 o'clock. Time for my real estate show!" And don't get me started on computer and vitamin shows.

    1. Good point 10:48pm.
I have no idea who is listening to these real estate shows. But I wish they would take a quick exit off the radio waves.

    2. Those shows are usually paid for by the (fill in the blank) expert.

  7. Lynn Jimenez is wonderful at everything she does. Her own financial tips during the news broadcast, guest host, and her other shows taught me and so many other so much about finance, investing, money management... I remember when she donated her kidney to her Father. She is a hero in so many ways. Hope she can return to KGO when the time is right.

    1. I wrote a replay, to Rich's attack, but surprise, he didn't publish it. Nonetheless he seemed baked enough to feel he needs to be nasty. By the way, I have all those posts in which he goes after me pinned up on my wall as a badge of honor.

  9. So all these layoffs are going on at KGO and yet the buffoonery of ”Chef” Ryan ”talk to me” Scott continues to infect the airwaves? How does this moron have a show? I tuned in for a minute to hear this tidbit: according to Scott and his guest the meaning of St Patricks day is to get drunk out of your mind.

    1. It is far and away the worst show on the radio dial. This weekend he tried to do a giveaway, and it was absolutely embarrassing. Who put this moron on the radio? And it seems Rich Walcov isn't even on the show anymore. Not to suggest he made it better but at least he sounded like a radio personality.

  10. Its too bad no one tells that sissy little wanker Brian Sussman at KSFO to take a hike. He is the most loathesome creep on Bay Area radio by far

  11. Lynn wrote what I believe is the first bilingual financial guide entitled "Se Habla Dinero?".

She is a class act, in any language.

  12. Really going to miss Lynn, I've been a fan since the beginning. With all of the changes MAYBE Christine could have a slot. Or, perhaps she could be on our little station on the coast. I think she'd be a huge hit in Santa Cruz.

    1. Chrissy Craft is way off on the Bradley Manning issue. Instead of talking about the crimes committed by the USA, she prefers to talk about Manning dressing as a woman and (SIGH) a teenage Manning arguing with his dad. Hey Craft, I bet you were a level headed teenager huh!? Also why don't you lay off talking about Mike Vick? I thought yesterday's show was a rerun from years ago. I bet you still wear a 1970s hairdo....

  13. dear 10:25, Mr. Manning's alleged gender identity issues neither make him a hero, nor make him less guilty of the crimes charged.the PBS program,FRONTLINE which has gone to extraordinary effort to "understand" just who Mr. Manning is, can be accessed on the internets. There's lots of discussion with Mr. Manning's father, including the 911 tape when he threatened his stepmother with a knife. Perhaps your beef is with FRONTLINE. There is also trial testimony which you can discover (Telegraph UK) from the current court martial, which includes Mr. Manning's charming proclivities to hit female superiors in the army, to roll up in a ball whimpering when that female superior sits on him subsequently, and details of how other army specialists thought he was such a loon that he might attack them with other weapons. There were several witnesses to all of this. I'm guessing you are always happy when the USA is degraded, but that sentiment doesn't make Bradley Manning a hero.
As to your other hero, Michael Vick, he was famously in the news last week, when the big football pussycat backed out of a "book" tour for his new oeuvre,"Finally Free". Commentaries, which you must have missed, were written for many major media sources. I agree that Mr. Vick should not be hounded for the crimes he has done time for in federal prison. However, Mr. Vick was prosecuted federally for running an illegal interstate gambling conspiracy...not for putting on his killing overalls, attaching battery cables to dog's ears and throwing them in the charming vick family pool, laughing as they were tortured and killed.
As for my teenage years, I was an advanced placement student at San Marino High School and an avid young surfer . I never threatened my parents with a knife or anything else.
My coif remains cute as hell.
    good day

  14. Nuts! Lynn Jimenez is an excellent money reporter and I specifically tune in to hear her reports. What a shame that she can't work from home or do some weekly reporting so we don't totally lose her. I was so happy recently when she returned after caring for her father, but I guess she is going back to help him again. A loss for the listeners.

  15. It's too bad we don't live in a country where common sense for the common good would say that Ms Jimenez's father should be well cared for by experts at elderly care, and Lynn -- a highly trained professional in business reporting -- should continue in her professional role at KGO and visit her dad after work and on the weekends.

Unfortuneatly, that is not the America we live in.

    1. the best "expert" in elder care are sons and daughters who actually love their parents. Such has always been the case and always will be.
