KGO's Jimenez takes leave to tend to ailing father

Many of you have inquired about Lynn Jimenez' extended absence from KGO.

Jimenez, the business reporter at the station since 1990, has taken a leave to tend to her ailing father. In fact, Jimenez donated one of her kidneys to her father and wrote extensively about it and what it felt like.

Jimenez has been off the air since Nov. 18.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimenez and her family.

  1. Lynn is just the best, best, best person. Many give lip service to helping our parents blah blah blah. She's the real deal who is an genuine as they come, both professionally and personally. I will keep her and her dad in my thoughts.

    1. Well said, Christine.

Lynn is a dedicated person. Dedicated to her family, to her job and to informing us ... her listeners.

I, too, am keeping every positive thought.

  3. Lynn is also the consummate professional. I saw her recently in the Cumulus halls; she was filling in for Bob Brinker on his network show; she mentioned NONE of this, and was as cheerful and present in the moment, as ever. <3

  4. Lynn has always been one of my most favorite reporters and radio hosts. She has a great sense of humor, intelligence and savvy. I miss her and wish the best for she and her family.

  5. I really miss Lynn and think that her reports on business and money are excellent. I caught the segment when she said that she would be away taking care of a family member. I wish her well and am looking forward to her return.

  6. That's really admirable. I have aging parents myself who are in their 90s, and it isn't fun watching them slowly fade away, although I feel lucky to have had them around this long.

Lynn has gone the extra mile for her dad, and more power to her!
I assume that he helped to raise her as a young girl and woman, and now she's returning the favor. Bless you Lynn!

  7. I remember when she was discussing the kidney transplant on the air. Awesome action and opening up a dialogue over transplants and their importance. Best wishes to the family!

  8. Lynn is greatly missed......and it took me until now to find out where she is and what she's doing. My partner and I send her best wishes for the holidays, and a big hug for her dad.

  10. Sorry to hear about Lynn's father. Hope she returns to KGO and Bob Brinker since I miss her excellent commentaries. Glad to hear she hasn't been effected by the devastating re-org at KGO (I miss all the old personalities).
