Alioto on Bungeroth

Angela Alioto, lawyer for Ralph Barbieri, on just-canned SF Cumulus Market Mgr, Bill Bungeroth on whether he'll be deposed.

It was Bungeroth that was part of the KNBR posse that fired Ralph Barbieri.

Absolutely he will be deposed. The firing has no effect...on Ralph's case...if Bungeroth is mad at Cumulus of course that could always help...and we might get some truth as to why they fired Ralph.....this is getting very interesting.

  1. I'd watch the Bungerhole deposition if it was on ppv!

  2. Barbieri was appropriately relegated to the dustbin of history.

I am hoping Angela will depose Raddy, Fitzy, and all the mouthpieces at KNBR.

    2. Karma is a bitch?

If Ralph or anyone else is stupid enough to waste their money deposing people in this case it will be their loss. But in all likelihood this suit will be thrown out long before it gets to that.

Ralph doesn't have a valid claim. He wasn't fired because he waa sick or old, he was fired because he sucked.

  4. Let her depose anybody and everybody; at the end of the day - and of his career - all Ralph proved was that by talking tough in a world weary, pissed off Baby Huey- as know-it-all voice, he made people believe that self-righteousness was the same thing as passion. If it's true that "angels fly because they take themselves lightly", then Mr. Barbieri has always walked.

  6. It is SO refreshing to have Barbieri off the air. His fat ass act wore very thin. Then finding out about his "don't you know who I am" to the poor kid at PacBell Park, was the last straw. Don't go away mad Ralph, just GO away.

  7. I loved Ralph, revile Cumulus for what they did to KGO, but Ralph's ability to carry a radio show had been slipping away for months. I hope his health improves. It would be great if he could be a part-time sports guy on some station, but his days as an everyday broadcaster seems to be over. I hate to say this, but Cumulus made the right call, but they could have been classier about it.

  8. Rich, I hope you notice that the prevailing message in these comments is that the audience no longer wanted to hear Ralph's voice on KNBR because he was no longer entertaining or even listenable.

That's why I find it annoying and inaccurate for you to continually portray Ralph's firing as a terrible injustice at the hands of evil Cumulus. It may be true that Cumulus is evil, despicable, and all that, but in this case they got it right.

  9. Couldn't agree more with Fair and balanced. Ralph was good for awhile, but the last six or seven years he sounded tired, bored, and was lucky to have Tom prop him up. He also didn't realize how fortunate he was to have a steady gig for nearly 30 years in a profession that was always insecure, even before media consolidation. If he was showing up late for his on air work, that would have been the final blow. if Cumulus was smart, they probably had a record of his trangressions. If they weren't Ralph may have some teeth to his lawsuit. Even though Ralph was clearly mailing it in the last several years, most listeners will take comfort in the fact that he will make those corporate suits in Atlanta squirm a little bit more.
