LONGINOTTI out at KPIX, (CBS5)
I'm told by multiple sources that KPIX President/GM – Ron Longinotti is out at the CBS O and O.
Rumors persist too that he may not be the last to go.
Longinotti took over at KPIX in 2002, coming from KGW Portland. He also had a stint at KRON.
Too early to speculate on reasons: could be a lot of things. Personnel, morale, and if the latter is the case, then more upper management heads are probably updating their resumes right now. (Think ND--D.R., for one).
Channel 5 has seen an unusual amount of turnover and high-profile refinement; (Roberta Gonzales was displaced on weeknights; John Kessler and Sydnie Kohara were shown the door in the morning). This has a lot to do with this move, (and others on the way, I'm sure). Suffice to say, I'm sure the lunch room at PIX was a bevy of water-cooler talk.
We're on it.

Is this a special inside report? And does this mean you're no longer taking a couple of days off?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when some big whigs would go. Roberta got screwed and replaced by a boring talking suit. Glad to see shes still around for now.
ReplyDeleteWhen/where can I find Roberta?
DeleteAnd who was the "insider" that giggled at my turnover remark? Uhuh.
ReplyDeleteWell as the GM goes, so goes the ND, and probably some of the on-air talent. In earlier days new management meant a whole new look and point of view for a station, but with so much standardization dictated from NY network execs, 5 may not see much radical change.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Ron's boss cried in front of him for 10 minutes when he gave him his pink slip.
ReplyDeleteThe clock is now ticking on News Director Dan Rosenheim, If he goes, what will happen to all those former KRON people who sought refuge at PIX?
ReplyDeleteI hope the News management doesn''t change. PIX has the best newscast in the area.
ReplyDeleteYou mean lowest rated newscast in the Bay Area, right? Especially if we're talking mornings.
DeleteNew guy starts next week.
ReplyDeleteAnother 'Palace Coup' that the bay area general public could care less about. Rich guys getting screwed by other rich guys never creates much controversy. Look at how the Giants screwed managing general partner Bill Neukom out of his position last year, and no one in the local media except for Gwen Knapp made any issue about it. Larry Baer was an accomplice in this matter, and so too were the late Harmon and Sue Burns' daughters and one of their weasly husbands who started the cabal, and Alan Byer, another slimy team investor.
ReplyDeleteGee, what took West 57th this long?
ReplyDeleteHey Rich, who cares about front office people getting canned? What we all want is more pictures and comments on hot bay area tv news babes!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a media insider, just someone who likes local news. Channel 5 local news is the main station I watch (and the only one I watch in the morning). I'm surprised KPIX demoted Roberta to mornings/weekends, I really like her. But she does make the morning broadcast brighter.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, there's been so much turnover over the years that I can't keep up with it.
"What we all want is more pictures and comments on hot bay area tv news babes!"
ReplyDeleteHell yeah, that's what I want! News babes with racks!
CBS5 has the best news in the bay area? What are you smoking? They canned most of their established and vested talent and replaced them with inexperienced newbies. They forced the remaining reporters to shoot their own stories (badly). And they fill time with talk, talk, happy talk.
ReplyDeleteNow Bruno??? Anyone see what he did in Sacto? Good luck.
More babes boopie, more babes please! Enough of this dour and boring news about executives crying into their towels as they get the kind of big fat severance check that no poor middle class slob would ever hope to see. I wants more pics of more TV babes! PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteThat's why Showtime after dark is on. For guys like yourself. Enjoy...
