What's Worse than Ellen Re-Runs?

The witch from NYC.

  1. This woman is water boarding for the ears. If I listen more than 30 seconds it feels like I am drowning. Horrific! Terrible! Awful!

  2. Even worse than that was a few years back when Ellen cried on air about feeling responsible for losing that dog. You know the producers were watching that going "Ok, did we get her crying? Yeah let's keep that in."

  3. And after Karel, to boot. Talk about a radio quagmire and a trainwreck.

Karel told off Pat Thurston "and I respect her but SHE doesn't want to talk with me and won't even promote my show. One of her "people" says she doesn't want to talk to me. That's not me, that's her. I know she saw comments in a Bay Area Media Blog about things I alledgedly said, as an off-air opinion, and she didn't hear it. I've gotten emails, tweets and voicemails about it and I'm tired of it."

He didn't say he didn't do it ... just that "parts of emails here and there and, now, she won't talk to me. I did nothing wrong. I also talked to KGO management on Friday and they reaffirmed that I am NOT suspended and I am NOT about to be fired (or at least they didn't say so . I'm just so sick of hearing about it and I refuse to be a part of it."

You martyr a$$wipe. You freaking liar. You know DAMN WELL what you said ... and it HAS been floated around from your website.

You can hide in Long Beach, you effing creep, but you CAN'T run and you better keen in close touch with Hosely and Hart because changes could be coming quicker than you think. Your numbers are in the tank and Maureen has NONE.

Your next gig is on your a$$ from the next red carpet you'll be rolling up.

How many times do you have to suck up (literally) to announce three times in two minutes how "gay" you are and "openly gay" like you did tonight with the guy from CNN.com?

You are sick. A panderer and then to mention "My mentor and friend, David G. Hall, told me that if I don't get a call from the program director or the Huffington Post complaining about what I did and not getting in trouble, then, I'm not doing my job!"

I'd say that you are so anal ... but we know that.

Get off the air, you flaming a$$hole.

Oh, please, don't let Kim McCallister have to bail you out by saying that she does a half hour of your KRAPPY show "for free" as you've said twice only to have her have to jump in and say, "No, no, don't say that because it's not true. I DO get paid for doing this." You freaking tool.

    What a moron.

    1. Great entry @1220!
Did anyone read Karel's blog post about the Thurston issue? In that post he denied there had been ANY email exchanges with Pat; however yesterday he acknowledged the existence of a few emails and accused Pat or ”someone in her camp” of releasing the emails. He is a liar! In that same post he denies making any derrogatory remarks about Pat and tries to cover his ass by claiming there is no official record of what he said. If you have not read his post, check it out....unless he took it down or went back to edit it, neither would surprise me...

    2. 12:20...Can you explain in more detail how you really feel? I agree, just brought at chuckle and wondered if you were able to sleep after getting so wound up!!!

    3. Did that fool say again that Kim McCallister does his show for free? Even if true what is the point of saying it? Last week when he said it, you could hear Kim was uncomfortable by the mention of it. I don't know why she continues to do that segment. Being associated with that fool may not be a wise career move...

    4. Is Karel the inspiration for a frequent guest appearing on Phil Hendrie's radio talk show? I'm referring to Doug Dangger--a gay man and a gay journalist. Did you know he's gay? He'll remind you if your forget.

  4. Ellen is the most annoying, no-talent, non-funny woman on TV today. I don't know what people see in her.

  5. Maureeen Langden, aka 'The NYC Witch,' has become a fascinating phenomenon on KGO. Fascinating, like watching a car wreck!

Not only is she totally unprofessional and annoying, but it's making many KGO listeners wonder if Cumulus' strategy is to drive away the few people that still might be inclined to turn on their station.

I really don't understand what programmers in radio are thinking these days. They completely disrespect the medium they are running, and show an alarmingly small comprehension of what good on air programming should be.

Many claim that "we've got to get the 'young demographic,' "
(meaning that they're trying to attract the ears of those listeners between the ages of 18-30), but they don't seem to realize that the very few people of that age group even listen to the radio anymore.

Therefore, they are tailoring their programming to an audience that no longer exists! Brilliant!

The alarmingly disturbing reappearance of many no-talent hacks on the radio such as Maureen Langden is further evidence that radio programmers are more clueless than ever in understanding how to cultivate an audience and become an integral part of the local communities that they are serving.

The whole process of handing over the radio waves to a bunch of dysfunctional, untrained idiots, and expecting people to respond in a positive fashion is so absurd, you'd have to laugh if it weren't so funny. What deluded, warped minds these radio programmers of today must have to think that people will even listen anymore to the dreck that they pander on their stations!

    1. And I've never understood the thinking that young people only want to hear young people on the air, or older people only want to hear older people and so forth. We want to hear something interesting, relevant, thought-provoking, educational, captivating. Unless the host brings it up, we don't necessarily know their age. We want information that crosses age, race, and gender divides and we want it discussed by knowledgeable and intelligent hosts, male or female, young or old.

Generally, more than just a few years of life experience make a host more competent. And if the numbers are down, then it obviously is not working to try to attract a certain demographic by simply programming a host of that same demographic.

  6. I assume we're talking about the host Maureen Langdon. She's definitely terrible, but I am not sure why the blog refers to her as a "witch." It's not like she has done anything wrong by accepting a job. It's the people who hired her that are the problem.

    1. exactly. I don't care for her style; but calling her that is way too personal, which she doesn't deserve.

  7. The 'NYC Witch?' I kind of like the sound of that one! Rich is very imaginative and his descriptions of this woman's pathetic on-air style are spot-on. I listened one time for five minutes and that was all I could handle. Trying to discern what the 'Witch' was actually talking about was difficult enough with her convoluted logic and weird takes on things (she and karel ought to work together!) But listening to Langden was like the sound of fingernails scratching a chalkboard!

  8. At least get her name right -- Maureen Langan. Google her.

  9. Who cares how you spell her name...she's a joke. What, are you a troll for the 'Witch,'

  10. I didn't write that, but I get it. It's a matter of respect. She's bad at her job. That doesn't mean she deserves the grade school name calling.
