Don't ever give up Rich...keep fightin' for us, okay? Are the Cumulus trolls getting to you? Don't worry about those small minded pea brained idiots. They're nothing but tools for the suits in Atlanta.
They have ALWAYS wanted you to shut down. Over the years they've done a good job of eliminating blogs-and before them- columns about local media that tried to include more then just praise. This is like a sanctuary for free speech and thoughts. What changed the unending wave of blond weather girls? This blog. What knocked Radnich off his pedestal? This blog. What is the conduit between media who play fair and readers? This blog. Keep up the good work..dont let corporations get into your head as they fling all they can and see what sticks best.
"What knocked Radnich off his pedestal? This blog."
NO, not in the real world. Radnich is where he always has been. It's this blog that may be going somewhere if this isn't just another desperate ploy for attention.
Don't let the tools get you down baby Rich. If the a-holes follow thru with their threats, the Electronic Frontier Foundation may want to assist. Among the many things they do is the following: ”Support litigation in the public interest to preserve, protect, and extend First Amendment rights within the realm of computing and telecommunications technology.” Keep us posted!
You can go write for the Huffington Post! Unless your comments are somewhat "actionable" don't fret it! It's the same jerk-offs who are feeding you BS are also telling you "they are after your blog!". Paranoia runs deep!
Come on, Rich. A call from an attorney? Threatened libel suit? Another blog wil pop up, if yours goes. Perhaps it would be a combined effort with out of work media people. The best were let go, in many cases, so let me shut you down. Only legal action could do that, or is it something else? You owe your readers more
This is yet another recent event that makes it ever so clear that (1) what we were taught in high school civics class about "free speech" in this country is 99% horseshit, (2) the "Land of the Free" has been rapidly transcending into a fascistic oligarchy controlled by corporate plutocrats, and (3) there is only one true Golden Rule in this country: He who holds the gold, makes the rules.
The cost of legal defense is so suffocatingly high that most of us common folk simply have to fold, when legally threatened by individuals, or businesses, or corporations with deep pockets, or in some cases even their own full-time staff of attorneys.
We need to start taking our country back from these despicable obscenely-wealthy sleazebags and the legislative whores who wander around perpetually bent over, and greased up, and ready to do their bidding.
Get off your soap box. Seems like you are jumping to conclusions portraying Rich as some sort of heroic victim. Maybe it's just another one of his paranoid fantasies or maybe its a mess he brought on himself.
Ask yourself, why all the drama - "I don't know if I have the energy nor the patience to fight", what a drama queen!
It ain't over until we say it is. Screw those dickhead bastards who control the media outlets. This is the United States of America. This is about freedom of speech. It ain't good out there. Look at the talking heads all over the place. KGone, KSFO, the Sports Bleeder, Ben "Am I Asian or a Mexican" Fang-Torres, KRON, on and on and on. Local radio and TV SUCKS. Everybody is running scared these days. It doesn't matter what the business is. Staff on pro sports teams are running scared, too. They get paid dirt and feel like their employers are doing them a favor. This country sucks. This is the all-about me era. That's OK. What comes around goes around. Hey$10/hr interns who eat ramen for dinner or live at home and suck off mommy and daddy: what's your comeback now?
It sounds as if you got a threatening letter. If so, it is a specious threat. For $100-150, you can talk to an attorney and get him to reply if he thinks you should. However, you might start by consulting with organizations that specialize in the defense of online unfettered and free expression, such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation, among others, to see where you stand.
Rich, they are trying to intimidate you. You've successfully rattled their cages. If we think this through, the idiots would be insane to bring an action against you. After posting such shitty numbers in the latest quarter can we really believe the Dickies will go to their board meeting and say: ”we need to shut down Lieberman, no matter the expense!” Uh, no. It's not happening. Mattress Man aka Mr. Softie ain't doing a thing either...
It would be helpful if you could at least tell us some of the specifics. I for one am interested in hearing about the threat in a calm and orderly fashion. We can't help if we don't know the problem. Please spell it out clearly with no short cut talk, or insider talk that many of us don't understand. Thank you Bruce
Truth is that Rich may have a desire to work in media, and in this day and age a blog like this in no way helps him. He has probably gone too far down the road already, but it seems to me like an act of self preservation. If he had more advertisers he wouldn't cave but we all have to eat.
Question: How does a 'troll' have the power to shut down Lieberman's blog? Answer: They don't.
Question: Just what is a troll anyway? Webster Dictionary has several definitions. To wit: "Amble about or casually walk about." Another one is: "Wander around searching for somebody, or to wander around a particular area or place, especially in search of a sexual partner."
Another definition: "A supernatural being in Scandinavian legends depicted as either or dwarf or giants and living in a cave and under bridges."
I wonder how the definition of a troll fits those 'little nebbishes' who work at some of our local radios stations. One of our posters needs to explain that one to me.
It is the angry mob at KNBR and KGO. Do not let them hinder your freedom of the press. When you disagree with the opposition, threaten them with censorship.
OK Rich, sounds as if you have riled up somebody. That's a good thing. You have got their attention. Don't let up now. You have a right to speak your mind on this forum and to publish the opinions of your readers. Don't let them scare you. It would be good to know a little more of the details. Can you fill us in on more?
Hmmm, would I get in trouble if I revealed one of the Dickey Brothers cell phone numbers on this forum? I am tempted to do so but not sure if that would be a good thing or not.
Oh come on Rich - makes playing the game much more fun!

She went to Boise to get married.

And who is the unidentified they who are tying to shut him down? PG&E? Rich, if you don't pay your electricity bill, they will shut you down!
No need to go into who or what are behind this...yet. Too much static.
ReplyDeleteVery curious that Rich can't explain what the threat is. Should be readily explainable unless he's confabulating.
HTML is so 1995 dude. Did you just discover it?

I'd put my money on Dan Rosenheim, Ron Owens, Roberta G, Paul Hosley.
They need to check those egos at the front door and be a professional!
Keep pounding away Rich.
