Andrews OUT at CSN Bay Area; Dave Feldman in at Sports Cabler

Changes at Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area

Dave Feldman, a Bay Area native--(he worked at KCBS)--has joined Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. He will be an anchor and reporter for the 49ers programming, in addition to working on various other pre-and post-game shows.

Damon Andrews, who has been at the local sports cabler since its inception in 2009, has left and is headed down south to LA to be with family. Andrews, according to an insider, has been dealing with several personal issues, (non health-related), and this may have accelerated his departure from Comcast.

Feldman has spent the past 12 years at Fox station, WTTG.

"He has deep local roots and has established himself as one of the most accomplished and versatile sportscasters in the business today,” Comcast SportsNet Bay Area VP-GM Ted Griggs said in a statement.

  2. Do you think an organization try to hire employees who are anti-ownership?

    1. Well, like many of the best..a Bill King or a Lon Simmons, they didn't pander to the employer ala a Fitz and Brooks.
DO you pretend to be ignorant or are you really that dim? Is that more of the schtick?..you know, needing me to spell out to you every post?

    2. As an employment lawyer, I can tell you that an employee's substantial overt acts counter to the interests of his employer are sufficient grounds for termination for cause in California.

    3. I meant team Ownerships, not Comcast in particular. But,like I said, the best can find the right ground to be critical of the team they announce.
Lawyer? I'm the King of England. Its the internet...

  3. I have seen him twice since he started and with his "deep" roots he still mispronounced Palo Alto when referencing the stanford cardinal on the farm, and mispronounce alameda when referencing the Raiders....Not trying to mid pick, just telling what I say and heard...I think he is weak yet I guess he beats fake ass Scott reece who is super phony...

    1. Funny you say he mispronounced Palo Alto, in reading about him he is from Palo Alto. Played basketball with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh there. In reading the comments when he left DC people were very upset he seemed very popular. Also said he had worked in Bay Area radio in the past before going "on-air"

    2. Interesting... Feldman is a Palo Alto High grad who did a stint at ESPN with fellow high school classmate Bill Pidto.

  4. I saw Dave Feldman's WTTG goodbye announcement online. His colleagues seemed genuinely sad to see him go. I think he was a little nervous with his new gig this week. We'll get used to him. Give him a break.

  5. They always say..."If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". However, the first thing that came to mind when I saw this headline and this article was Duane Kiper's voice saying, "Nobody Cares". As much of a Giants fan as I am, I can't remember the last time I even left the channel on CSN before or after a Giant's game. As soon as the game ends, its either KNBR or flip the channel. No desire to watch what happens on CSN.

    1. Speaking of Duane Kiper. On the Comcast post-game wrap yesterday the camera caught Kipe falling asleep as the other 3 guys talked. Someone off camera finally got his attention and he lifted his head. Guess he forgot he was on TV.

  6. Outside of their games, does anyone even watch Comcast's in studio shows? I hear their ratings suck.

  7. I wonder how KNBR can claim its ratings are great when they run commercials in long blocks every 7 minutes? The amount of time means that the hosts sound like they are hepped upon pills,or the GM has electric cattle prods if the pace slows. I can see why Bunghole was on Ralph's behind..its push, push, push,go,go,go. And I do..to THEGAME. Where its commercials are at least of average breaks.

Raddy spends as much time laughing at nothing as he does talking sports.wow-my ears..

  8. Ratings reflect the number of listeners irrespective of content.

  9. I wonder if Dave will be filling in for Gary at KRON when he takes vacation?

  10. I think "true" Palo Altans ... sometimes revert to Pali-alto ... at least I hear it down the Pen all the time, and no before you infer - all races say Paly-alto, whenever it is they choose.

  11. I guess it happens in all markets, was reading a comment about his departure... some guy wrote in he couldn't stand him, all he does is push the Redskins the Nationals are almost forgotten. Can't win.

  12. Oh man, that's too bad about Damon Andrews. I think he did a great job on CSN Bay Area, and even back in the early 2000's when he was on the old FSN Bay Area. Hopefully everything is ok with his family, and hopefully he comes back to CSN Bay Area.

  13. "Deep local roots," eh, Griggs? Tell me how many of your carpetbagger on air talent and producers and staff are from the Bay Area and grew up watching our teams in person? Maybe 5%? "Deep local roots" means San Francisco native. Born and raised and attended high school in The City. A person who is at least 2nd or 3rd generation San Franciscan. That's the definition of "deep local roots." Seals Stadium, Candlestick, Kezar, etc.

  14. Who cares about Damon Andrews anyway? He hated the bay area, complained like a big crying, whining baby about his job all of the time, and now he's gone. Good riddance!
