KFOG Morning Show Backlash reaches Crisis Point; Is PD Constantine's job on line?

Tony & Melanie are apparently gone from the KFOG morning show. Greg Gory is solo today talking about a special announcement at 7:30. Tony & Melanie lasted all of 2 weeks. The listener backlash was just too much, even for Cumulus. Now will PD Dennis Constantine keep his job after this fiasco?  A mini riot-act has been read.

Several people in the know are saying something is bound to go down. We'll see. One thing is certain, fogheads, your growls have been heard. To what degree the suits respond remains to be seen.

  2. RICH, did you watch ABC7's morning show in primetime last night and if so, what did you think?

  3. Tim Jeffries of K-FOX is the new morning guy, promising "intelligent" radio.

As to Constantine's job being "on the line" -- I honestly believe he did what Cumulus told him to do, given Dickey's supposed love of Twitch. They must have been hemorrhaging listeners the last 2 weeks.

    1. No, advertisers. If the KGO situation should've taught us anything, it that this company and management doesn't give a shit what the listeners think. If anything, they have disdain for the actual listeners. They're driven by bottom line concerns. They lost advertisers with their foolishness at KGO, and now they're facing a revolt at KFOG by the people who pay the bills. If you want to hit these guys where it hurts, their only pain centers are sales and accounts receivable.

  4. Philosophical rant:
The programming is only there so that you will listen through the spots to find out what happens next. Hence it's the advertisers that really matter and ratings are the yardstick they use. In the old pre social media days you could only grouse to your friends when you didn't like a station. Now the whole world knows but I think this may be the first time grousing actually worked.
Good going. My girlfriend was a KFOG morning listener until the upheaval. Not any more. Maybe again.

  5. I was really worried that they might reconsider bringing back Irish Greg....thankfully he wasn't even considered. When did "producers" become talent. Stick to booking guests and getting coffee and stay away from the microphone.

    1. Cumulus property thinks all their produceds are multi-talented. But like children, they should be seen and not heard!

  6. I really had a hard time when Dave Morey left the morning show, but as time went by I grew to like the chemistry between Webster, Peter Finch, Renee and Irish Greg. The show was still smart and entertaining.

The latest morning show was awful. Greg Gory was being dragged down with the other two. Tony was about as opposite from Dave Morey as you can get.

Thank God they figured this out quickly......hope this works.

  7. Actually, it sounds like Melanie is still around, but they don't have her talk much. I'm still giving KFOG a chance -- if they start doing bloopers and prank calls, though, I'm outta there. Or if they play that Little Miss Can't Be Wrong song one more morning in a row.
