KPIX-TV, (CBS5), has landed a new anchor from Denver to co-anchor its "Eyewitness News Early Edition", and its "Eyewitness News at Noon" with Frank Mallicoat, Elizabeth Wenger and Lawrence Karnow.
Michelle Griego, who hails from Denver's KCNC, (CBS4) begins her new duties at Channel 5 beginning March 19.
She has been at the CBS O and O since June, 2005 as an Online Editor for the Web and a Web Specialist for TV before moving on to on-air reporting and anchoring.
As reported here, PIX has been auditioning anchors for a few months now--obviously, Griego was on their radar and made the grade.

ReplyDeleteThank Gawd! The KPIX Morning Show now with Frank & Grace is one continuous LAUGH FEST...I can understand having a little joking around once and awhile during the broadcast, but every 2 minutes is Ridiculous!!!

ReplyDeleteI like Grace Lee, but this move doesn't bode well for her future in the mornings. I don't think she's the problem with that sluggish show. This new girl looks like she could be the sister of the KPIX anchor who is on at 5 PM: Elizabeth Cook.

ReplyDeleteI'm a recent transplant from Chicago and I cannot believe the lack of talent in your local SF TV pool! WOW - are all news managers here blind and/or deaf? We watch the news like hounds in the midwest and I'm guessing that people in the Bay Area do not, otherwise these fools (especially the dud-fest on Channel 4 mornings and the stiff coat bunch on Ch 2) would never be allowed on camera. I'm utterly shocked. There's not ONE local newscast in the mornings worth watching. Everyone is annoying and nobody is attractive, and I bet this lady CBS is betting on won't do much to drive ratings. Another "safe" hire. Very disappointed, Frisco. Guess there's a reason web news is so popular around here! Get some personality! Stop playing it so incredibly safe! Snooze fest. That said, have a nice day.

ReplyDeleteThe reaction by the local media to local Jeremy Lin's recent success is pathetic good old boy thinking in full bore. Papa,Radnich,Kreuger..just like three old white conservative republican men. I felt embarrased for Papa's. He all but said "So what?,black players do that everyday" That Lin is Asian IS part of the story I know. But,that he was chosen by Lacob against all odds,and showed fast development in his short time proves he deserves to be in the NBA.
ReplyDeleteI see that apathy against the standard around here lately of Buster Posey..the locals made a near God before he got to the majors. He fit the stereotype..wholesome 1940's name and all.
New York city proves to be ahead of the curve as they laud Lin's great play. SF media proves to be backwoods in comparison...once again.

The Warriors used Lin to market the team. Being a very cheap #12 man who wasn't going to bitch about playing time also played a part in it.
DeleteThat doesn't mean he isn't good (or bad). NY Chinese fans are now jumping on the bandwagon, plenty in attendance where there were few before his signing.
Glad to see him doing well, hope he can keep it up, will keep him in the league longer. Even his teammates where shocked as shit that he did well those 2 games.

You see him really really trying, It's not him. Lee? well I like Kohara myself more. But lee seems to be more genuinely in her own personality. Now whether people like that genuine personality is another question.

ReplyDeleteIn morning news Frank and Grace were great. The chemistry between the two kept things light and moving in the early morning hours. KPIX made a big mistake replacing her. They have a losing formula now. Grace you will be missed!

It was a quick exit for Grace. She was there last week and then gone this week. Its an unforgiving business. I thought they would have at least given the job to Elizabeth Wenger who is well seasoned and has a great sense of humor.

ReplyDeleteMichelle is beautiful, she has a great personality! Super perky in am, I like her humor! She just comes across so natural and ultra professional, I did not know she was so new to the bay area. Garcia-cannon on ch 4 comes across as arrogant, can't stand her unnatural inflections in her voice! Ch. 5 with Michelle griego, her attractiveness is really natural and the way she interacts with rest of crew is unforced, professional and enjoyable to wake up to!
