I can't believe how many e-mails I've received asking if its true that KGO is carrying the 49ers/NY Giants NFC Championship game. (UPDATE, so are ALL the other Cumulus stations, including ALL their AM and FM outlets).
Yes, they are. And they can.
KGO is a Cumulus property and therefore, they're simply carrying the direct feed from KNBR, (Cumulitis, sports edition).
Which means, great news: No regularly scheduled programming on KGOne/SweetJack Central come Sunday--just football. Damn, no Karel? A crime against humanity!

ESPN is going to drive Bay Area residents crazy with saying "San Fran" and "Frisco".......the only drawback to the 49ers in the SB. Would be hearing San Fran/Frisco said over the airwaves for 2 weeks straight!!!
ReplyDeleteBring back Joe Starkey!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy?
DeleteIs KSFO also broadcasting the game?
ReplyDelete@3:34 is right on, I almost prefer the Michael Savage usage: San FranPsycho or San FranSicko over San Fran or Frisco....
ReplyDeleteRich: Is every show going to be pre-empted Sunday? No Thurston or Disingenuous black man? How about God talk? Brent Walters could put a good word in with Almighty himself for a Niners victory...
Almost as bad as when the president speaks... have to search high and low for a station with regular programming. Go Niners, but every station? I guess Cumulus is very desperate for listeners.
ReplyDeleteSilly on so many levels. This kills PPM impact that would normally happen for KNBR and KSAN (also a main affiliate) on such a huge game. 49er fans KNOW where to find the friggin' game! Also, Cumulus loses all the billing on the other stations during the simulcast. It may not be huge but it's more than they will realize in simulcasting. The idea that Cumulus can raise rates on all participating stations isn't necessarily true either. Many of these spots are already booked at fixed rates. And no advertiser is going to pay extra for a spot on KFOG or KSFO just because they are a supplemental station carrying the main feed which, knowing Cumulus, will carry all the KNBR promos.
