KGO Radio uses old promos for Ronn Owens show

KGO Radio has been running non-stop promos for the Ronn Owens show--one particular spot features actress Carrie Fisher talking about her father, present tense, only Eddie Fisher died more than a year ago.

The spot is at least three years old.

And another 20-sec beauty: an old, way old spot with comedian, Robert Klein. Again, the spot is dated-- at least three years old, also. (Try 2008)

We have yet to hear a Ronn/Elvis promo, but I wouldn't rule it out.

  1. Maybe not Elvis but wouldn't be surprised if they dust off the old Burt Reynolds piece where a caller made some crack about his toupee.

  2. It sounds as though KGO's decline is accelerating rather precipitously.

  5. So I see Ronn is your target for this week...
The best thing about KNBR and KGO is you are not on either one...So I guess Cumulus has some standards...Women must love you Rich...Cause when they say "Lieberman"..."What A Dick" must follow close behind.

  6. Some Gil Gross promos are pushing two years old.

  7. Well, for what it's worth, Armstrong Roofing/Painting still uses the same voice in their ads, and Mr Fine has been dead for quite a while…..

  8. "Sock it to me!!!.....And coming up later tonight after the Ronn Owens program, the debut of new host Ray Taliaferro! You cats are gonna really love this out-of-sight brother! Dig! Now here's the new one from Donny and Marie..."

  9. They also run an old ass Gil Gross promo when his guest in LA was not allowed to get in studio and when he went in headed straight to the john. Did you catch Brian Copeland's show yesterday? Horrible. Can the man stop using "what it is that it is" ? I am not kidding he said this to a caller: "don't call and tell me what it is I said if that is not what it is I said". He also asks callers to "cut to the chase" three seconds into the call. Annoying as hell Mr. Not Genuine

  10. I'd rather hear the oldies than any crap Amatori produces. Yes, the decline is in free-fall. Mickey is smiling like a cheshire cat.

  12. Great talk radio is providing a forum for passionate discussion on the news of the day and the immediate feedback it provides. I understand that promos might need to be designed to "keep" for an extended period - but the third-rate celebrities and fluff promoted on KGO makes John Tesh's radio show look like PBS in comparison.

  13. When you fire all the production staff you either play old stuff or nothing at all. Mike is too busy making commercials for paid customers in a queue to do in-house promos...

  14. Kudos to the previous poster regarding Len Tillem. The most insidious aspect of his often pre-recorded Sunday shows is that they do not announce it as a repeat at the start of the show as used to be customary. They will randomly inform that it is pre-recorded once or twice at some odd minute during the 3 hour show. They should give that slot to a host willing to do it live. I heard Tillem in the past say he is not willing to do shows live 6 days a week. It is understandable. Get his ass off the air on Sundays and give those 3 hours to Stacy Taylor or Christine Craft. Problem solved.

  15. The only time I've heard a "live" Len Tillem Sunday show is when he wants to plug one of his investing/trusts seminars coming up during the week ahead. Other than that, they're all "rebroadcast" from months and months ago.
