Savage is based out of San Francisco, (although as of now, doesn't appear on a SF radio station--he is heard in Sacramento on KSTE).
While Savage is a dedicated conservative, he's not your run-of-mill "right-wing" host; he occasionally went hellbent on George W Bush, (mostly on immigration reform) and routinely rips into his rightist cohorts like Mark Levin, the aforementioned Hannity and Limbaugh.
So, what's wrong with the country?

Savage's problem is he can't get along with people. He wears out his welcome everywhere he goes.
ReplyDeleteMichael Savage is mentally ill. I don't say that because of his politics, I say that based on my encounters with him and the many, many stories told from my former co-workers at KSFO.
ReplyDeleteTwo sexual harassment cases had to be settled out of court with Savage while he was at the station. His conservative co-hosts considered him mentally unstable and refused to make public appearances with him. The station could only get one producer to continue to work for him by constantly raising his salary and vacation time. Even he eventually just quite in disgust.
Savage appears to be bi-polar with some clinical paranoia mixed in. It's frightening that literal insanity can pay. Crazy of course can also be very clever, luckily he continually self-destructs which prevents him from being more of a menace.
One day the only audience Savage will hear from his padded room will be the nurse saying "it's time for your meds Mr. Weiner."
That's hilarious if true. Most of these talk show/tv hosts are nutz, imo. On the right and the left....they have huge egos.

As with Rush Limbaugh and many of the 'politically right wing' talk show hosts they're only interested in having people notice them, getting big ratings and making making lots of money! The reason he's not on local radio is that unlike Limbaugh, who at least shows a little bit of dignity and professionalism, 'Savage' (it's not even his real name!) didn't great ratings and pissed a lot of people in the radio biz (businessmen, not liberals) off!
His banishment from these parts has nothing to do with the fact that
he sounds like a uneducated
twit who likes to simplify complex issues with knee jerk reactions. Unfortunately there many plenty of lazy, ignorant listeners who don't take the time to show any interest in learning what is going on in the world, and think 'Savage' has most of the answers. His rants and diatribes

Back in the 1930s we unfortunately also had people of his ilk on the radio suchas
Father Coughlan and H.V. Keltenborn. They told the American public that Nazi Germany wasn't such a bad thing and that America stay be neutral in
international matters. They also vilified Roosevelt because he was
a 'New Dealer,' and was hampering 'American Business Interests.' But guess what? Keltenborn and Coughlan were on the wrong side of history. The same can be said of 'Savage' and others of his stripe.
Perhaps more important than anything else, 'Savage' gives conservatives a bad name. Barry Goldwater and William F Buckey Jr would be spinning in t heir graves if they could hear the nonsense that's spewing out of the airwaves from right wingers these days. Whatever happened to thoughtful, well presented, professional broadcasters who used detailed and carefully detailed points of view?
I guess most opted out for the money and ratings! What does that say about America in the 21st century?!
