The neanderthals, some of whom are carrying cameras and mikes are staking out prized territory.
They won't admit it, but they're looking for something early. Nightfall is beckoning.
There's a vulture mentality among the herd. Harsh, perhaps, but it's real.
KRON's assorted gee-whizers are stationed everywhere. Maybe they'll get lucky and back into one of the "Black opps." How cool would that be?
Hey, you schmucks: Yeah, I know you have to cover a story, but dammit, show a bit of deference. For gawds sake, do your job, sure, but be careful and use your head. Granted, most of 'yous don't have a fuckin' clue, all of you from market#49 to #122, you're just so damn thrilled to be in on the action, aren't ya?
And the sun hasn't even set.

ITEM: Da Lin running around SOLO with PERFECT shiny hair and a camera last night, like Dick Van Dyke as Bert the One Man Band in Mary Poppins, except without the shitty Cockney accent, and PERFECT shiny hair. He rolled up (again, SOLO) in his Radio Flyer red KRON Toyota at the Occupy SF raid on the morning of October 16th. Saw him hoisting himself up on concrete stanchions to GET THE SHOT. I'm an occupier (with a JOB, thankyouverymuch), not a member of the media, and I shit you not, I am impressed as FUCK by him. He puts "Charlie Hustle" Pete Rose to SHAME.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, Lin has hella heart. Impressed.
And a demerit to Laura Anthony and her "Danville" sensibilitys biased reporting and leading questions. As usual,Laura somehow in the future will benefit from the sacrifice of the people. It always works out that way.
ReplyDeleteWithout these how would we know what is going on there? Sure and hell not going to rely on police reports. Media observers and yes, a camera or two.
ReplyDeleteAs a member of the media that covers the Occupy crap I can honestly say the media members on the front line are just as tired of the protesters and just as tired of the sensationalism as everyone else. Simply put; reporters are taking orders from above their heads and just counting the minutes until their shift is over so they can bounce and get as far away from the plaza as possible. (Da Lin is an exception to that. Lin = true professional and damn good reporter). Trust me; nobody wants this crap to end more than those forced to cover it everyday.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in TV news (a producer at one of the SF stations), I remember lots of people (AE's, other producers, "star" reporters) would get pissed whenever a story that sounded really exciting on the scanner (shots fired...fire...possible body found...possible kidnapping...missing cute blonde kid) didn't turn out to be anything.
ReplyDeleteThat's when I started questioning why I was in TV news...and why I left the business (on my own/my decision) in 2000.
