Cumulus has proven to be bloodless company that could care less about serving the bay area. Lou 'the Dickhead' Dickey will take out his knife and slice as many throats as he can at KGO (much as he did with KNBR), and then replace any of the more important victims with cheap, idiotic, dysfunctional young people who have no business being on the air (like Pe-Con!)
Why aren't Americans righteously outraged by the way our government has given corporate America a free hand in downsizing and dumbing down one of the most important parts of our free society, the media? Because most Americans have become slaves to fear; fear of losing their jobs to these bean counting ass....s, fear of upsetting someone 'important' who might be able to help them survive during this eviseration of our once great country.
It's bad enough that older people have gotten so selfish and jaded that they do little help change things, but then you have younger people who have been brought up in the computer world, and they spend half of their waking hours, texting, tweeting, and posting pictures on facebook instead of doing something constructive and creative with their lives. They don't realize that they are servicing these rich jerks and fattening their pocketbooks while dumbing themselves down and cutting off real communication between human beings by spending time starting at tiny computer screens while blindly walking down street sidewalks and across crosswalks, totally obliciousto on coming traffic. I saw someone in the city almost run over recently, because she refusedto stop staring at her telephone screen while she casually walked through a red light.
The bottom line is that American is getting what it is deserves because we've let these bastard corporate weasels take over and turn us into a third world nation, much as they did during the 'Gilded Age' of the 1870s through Teddy Roosevelt's administration.
But why bash Pecon? They gave the guy a show, he's not gonna say no to that? I'm sure a segment of the population enjoys his show! (although not the highest education level, granted). And ive listened to it, at least he talks about sports where Raddy talks about wothless crap all day. Blame Cumulus for not shelling out, not Pecon
I keep up on the latest with local radio, but this upcoming bloodbath (likely dropping the afternoon news, and possibly the morning news (welcome Imus) and Ray Tal) really affirms my passion for the satellite radio. Get it!
My money's on dropping Fitz (replacing him with p-con, dropping Byrnes (and putting D-Bruce back at night), and phasing out Radnich. Ralph will be back and Mr. T is untouchable.
What can you do? Not listen and tell all your friends to not listen too.

Rich you continually state that Cumulus are bean counters, that they're all about the bottom line and spending the least amount of money as possible. If they bludgeon a local radio lineup, put on national shows that no-one has a connection to and ratings massively drops....isn't that a bad thing? Advertisers will drop, revenue will drop, isn't that counterproductive?
Gene Burns is brilliant. If he were pompous (and he's not), he would have earned the right to be. People who aren't quite brilliant tend to throw that word pompous around because someone has a superior intellect and makes them feel "less than".
All this speculation is rather unseemly. How would you like it if your company had a blog that regularly trashed you and your collegues and called for your head on a platter? We're talking about human beings here (with the possible exception of Fitz) so c'mon!
And Btw,It was Kate Scott who put it out there that she was gay and proud. So,why this bullshit at how she's thrilled when Radnich reads email from some neocon young repub who thinks she's hot..meanwhile not a single email from gay woman who like sportsphone and Kate? Haven't heard a single lesbian caller to compliment Kate either. And -in going through the dial this morning..what the hell station has two obviously gay men doing sports? It wasn't long..but you had to hear it as they laughed at Romo's energy drink and something he said about the 49er-Lions game coming up. You couldn't stop listening..just surreal,even for the bay area. Talk about non status quo sports talk.. Once I changed to the regular sports stations...forgot about it. Was that the Karel guy?
The wasteland that is now bay area radio is like the world would be after a nuclear holocaust. Almost all of the reputable, credible talent has either retired or been sent packing by these bloodless mega-companies. What w'eve got now are underpaid, under qualified people like Pe-Con and Kate Scott doing what used to be the kind of a job you'd get after 15 years in the profession. But they are also being paid peanuts (the drug-addled Pe-Con reportedly sleeps at the studio from time to time when he's off his meds!) and Kate Scott literally told Gary on the air a few months back that her salary is not even enough to allow her to buy a new refrigerator! What a sad state of affairs!
And when Gary go's all cutesy-poo,anybody with two eyes can see Krueger's wheels spinning as he thinks "I've sunk so low,I'm smiling at a 61 year old man doing baby talk on a sports show".
