Andrew Dice Clay gets the business from Ralph Barbieri

Andrew Dice Clay was on the "Razor and Mr. T" show. It was funny. (See, that can happen on Knibber every now and then)

Dice was talking via phone on his way to the Bay Area, (doing a gig at Tommy T's in Pleasanton Friday and Saturday).

Asked in the very beginning by Tom Tolbert about whether he ever ran into Brooklynite and ex-Warrior, Chris Mullin, Dice said he never heard of Mullin and that he wasn't a sports fan. Funny. Oh, and his phone cut off.

Dice, who's trying to resurrect his career, then came back on and got, well, dicey with Ralph Barbieri. Razor asked him about "Celebrity Apprentice" and Clay thought Ralphie was a wise guy. "You messin' with me?" It was pretty funny. I'll give Ralphie credit for not backing down. Actually, I was waiting for Dice to explode, maybe utter a "fuck you", but he was cool.

The best part was when the Razor asked him about his "Entourage" appearances. Ralph said he didn't watch the show. "Yeah, and I don't listen to your radio show", shot back Dice. Again, it was funny. If you heard the interview, (and if you didn't try catching it on the podcast), then I think you'll agree.

It's amazing what can happen when you have an interesting interview. No sound effects needed.

  3. Never thought he was funny. In his prime I never laughed at his jokes. He was a Sam Kinnison coatail rider. Now,Sam was funny. As always, the original is the greatest.

  4. A few years ago, funniest interview Ralph tried to do was with Al Franken. Ralph did very little homework and started off into one of his 2 minute long questions, pretty much a string of thoughts with a question mark at the end. Franken: "uh, yeah" then it went downhill from there.

  6. Just heard the interview on Knbr.com.

I also never found his "comedy" amusing but I laughed when Clay, upset with Ralph, said, "Oh stop it. Is this the retarded kid you hire to have fun with? Who is this guy (Ralph)?"

Mr Barbieri meekly played along with phony laughter. Worth listening to.

Thank you! You have nicely illustrated Barbieris schtick.

I guess it's easy working the pseudo intellectual bit while employed at a sports station....I hope Ralph wakes up every day with a prayer of thanks that almighty god sent Tolbert to keep him out of the unemployment line!

  9. Ralph's act is tired, and frankly, boring -- "2 minute long questions" may be giving him more credit than he's due. Another annoying Ralph behavior is his tendency to jump-in and/or interrupt both callers and guests (and Tom). So we end up with these awkward exchanges of stammering and stop-start confusion: "what?" "oh, go ahead" "pardon me?" "uh..." Mostly so Ralph can remind everyone he's still there. You'd think after years in radio he'd have some grasp of conversation and cadence.

  10. What, is he pimping a spin off "Jersey Shore Dads"?????

"Yo! I was doin' this chick when the rubbah broke. And I said, What the friggin' hell? Guess I'll be a Daddy or somedin'!"

  11. Ralph sounds like an old dry drunk, with a feeble mind & no discernible talent. Just a radio oddity, who has mumbled and stumbled his way through what 20 years of sloppy interviews, idiotic premises, and run ins with the law. He came along at a time when Sports Radio really didn't exist, much beyond the "atta boy" joy boys (70's versions of the KNBR morning show), except they usually knew something about the sports they covered. Today this stumble bum couldn't do overnight weekends in Fresno with his f--- up act.

  12. Has Ralph prepared for a show in the last 10 years? I don't believe he knows how to turn on a computer.
Once during a face-off he was asked, what do you have on the show today? "I don't know, Jen hasn't given me the rundown yet." Give him credit, at least he was sitting in the chair and not late.
He is so out of touch - he was handed Andrew Dice Clay's wikipedia page and could only come up with a few lame questions. Tom carried the interview with his pointed questions.
