STRAIGHT OUT OF THE KNBR HANDBOOK DEPT.
They and their corporate henchmen, Cumulus, booted out Tony Bruno. "You're gone" and that's that. A defacto censor-silence was ordered by the powerless one, uber-ego Hammer, (who is not the man who wields the axe over there, really) and callers being given the heave-ho if they dare want to talk about Bruno.
Then all hell breaks out Friday night when Bruno tweets some stupid remark and apologizes ...immediately. I'm not condoning Bruno's lapse, (and you all know about it now); it may cost him dearly.
Here's my issue(s)...On Knibber this morning, Damon Bruce went the holier-than-than route and his daddy, Raddy, opened the hour with the same line of utter bullshit. Ever heard of "milking a topic?" Raddy and Bruce, in particular, piled on. "Asshole radio", one e-mailer commented to me.
Indeed, not talking about the Bruno affair would have been a joke too, even by Knibber standards, but Bruce, who is not exactly a boy scout, is a complete moronic hypocrite. He has the audacity to rip into Bruno for a heat-of-moment ill-advised brain fart, but ignores his own choice, misogynist sound drops, among other things, (I'm being kind), spare me Damon.
And Raddy, who even though he's about ten years behind the times, showed his true colors too by going way overboard. Maybe Gary wanted two buses to throw his friend under, can't figure it out.
Is all of this a by-product of Bruno losing his 30-minute bit last week? Yes, of course, and both schmucks at least alluded to that distinction, but that's it. As I said earlier, and even Raddy admitted, Tony Bruno is NOT racist. Hardly. What a joke. But that's not the issue here.
At Knibber, you can't talk about certain issues, (like last week), unless they bleed into the local and national chatter room. Or they provide talk-show fodder for a bunch of tacky "friends" who dumped on their former friend so they could milk the issue for Larry from Livermore. Tacky. Gutless. And remarkably not surprising.
I enjoyed local sports radio so much more before this blog. Now I hate every single on-air personality, sometimes before they even sign on for their first show.

ReplyDeleteBruce is a fucking liar..lied about Krueger and what he said,Radnich lied about Krueger in defending him. Both somehow left out Krueger had said the team had "Too many brain dead Caribbean players". Both left out the true story of how all that went down including baiting Alou.
Damon Bruce is the biggest phony of Radio..and Radnich his older twin. Radnich might like his sex black..but he's said many bigoted things over the years. Married to black doesnt mean you arent a bigot. Only a dunce like Bruce would give a pass to Radnich.

Radnich actually did defend Krueger many years ago.

Krueger "baited" Alou? Krueger apologized the very next day and Alou wouldn't accept it. You even got the quote wrong, genius. Alou settled for nothing less than Kreuger's head, and the Giants/KNBR capitulated.

I like how all the white guys are calling each other racist in this fiasco. I have yet to see or hear any person of color get agitated. Rich, will you respond to Damon Bruce's attack on you?

At 9am..Bruce said part of Bruno's anger was losing his KNBR gig,its true...but,at 11am,he recapped and repeated all he said-but left out any mention of KNBR and Bruno's feelings towards them that night. You wanna bet Lee Hammer called?

ReplyDeleteAnd both Bruno and Radnich tried to twist the outrage as "people who wait for us to make a mistake". Funny,because they dont mind the "we love you" phone calls or reading email after email prasing them for what they say...yet attack people who see their social responsibility as public figures. I hate that they also hide behind "We're just entertainers" .."change the channel" ( and thats being done more often then they know!)because when they give an opinion of life and society ,they want to be taken as authoritys. Its when they fuck up..they go back to "We're just..etc.

And even more surprising-95.7 hasnt mentioned it.I don't get that at all...a great op.to put you boot to the neck of the competition..and you pass? I mean,they do commercials making fun of KNBR,and now this?..they have nothing to say?
I know it all revolves around the buck..and corporate minds don't think like us, is the message here.
How long is this crap going to continue??? These guys are all "brain impaired" and they don't need to milk an already ugly story to death. I vote getting rid of them all and get a class act to replace them! Bruce & Radnich will never get along and will be a lost cause anyway......GET RID of them!!

I remember clearly raddy giving pecon that "I know, look and head nod" when he claimed illegals had done the attack..the same Raddy who stops Pecon though when he goes into jive talk. ReplyDeleteThe new FM sports station sounds like a bunch of dweebs. And granted, KNBR is pure dreck these days, but at least they've been doing sports radio for many years. How long has this one-lung station that carries a team that no one even cares about been doing sports? Need I say more? How many people even listen to the A's on the radio...15?

I get the feeling KNBR is like the Titanic. Way to much drama.. Just plain tired. I think KNBR has jumped the shark big time.
