Maybe it's just me, but I find it, really, just amazing the amount of new, inane, TV/radio reporters and anchors in this city who have no clue about the city they're covering. Get a grip, idiots.
Or are you as sick in the head watching a dickhead from market#66 refer to San Bruno Tower as "Mt. San Bruno Tower?" My favorite is Doyle "Avenue" as opposed to the correct "Doyle Drive."
KTVU's high-strung, uber-wired, Eric Rasmussen should quit on his 67th cup of coffee every day and concentrate on his new environment--it would vastly neutralize the fact that the hyper guy doesn't have a fucking clue where the hell he is. Walnut Creek is not SF. I say that not as an endorsement for either the creek or San Francisco, I just wish Rasmussen would have took a quick peek on some of the locales in town. It helps, especially if your new, like the other new mutants here and down in San Jose.
TV isn't alone here. Radio news people, jocks and the assorted voices, particularly on the new FM sports outlet with two East coast jerks are prime perpetrators. Once again, lazy rules the world.
The one that i like is: grant street....
ReplyDeleteI hope they at least have been coached to never ever say "Frisco".
ReplyDeleteThat would be grounds for immediate termination.
It could be worse a vertren female reporter from channel 2 who shall remain nameless was dong a story in Clayton and Concord and was doing a live shot in Concord and says live from Cayton. Go figure. Then another channel 2 reporter does the same thing and was reporting live from Clayton Valley High in Concord. I would expect that from someone from channel 11. Go figure.

ReplyDeleteEric does a great job on KTVU. He is engaging and solid. He is not boring like most other stagnent reporters on tv. He would be better if he was on KRON 4. I love that station. A live shot should be more than just standing in front of a scene hours after something has happened. Eric brigns action to the live shot, a reason for being there.
ReplyDeleteThe radio part? 95.7's revolving door of out of town carpetbagger hosts..who come in with the attitude-they will show the bay area how its done, the bay area will not change them. Hence, they get the boot.
ReplyDeleteSo,who's ruling 95.7? Dibbs and guest host Greg Papa, and he's barely on.
Sure, new talent is great...but local talent is abundant if they looked. Its amazing how popular a local sports media host can become by dropping local references. ...why do you think Raddy beat his SJ roots?
Christina Loren in the worst. During the tsunami scare, she kept referring to Half Moon Bay as Contra Costa County.
ReplyDeleteLos GAY-tos.
ReplyDeleteYou were paying attention to what Christina Loren was saying?
ReplyDeleteThat is like saying you read Playboy for the articles!! :)
I dont get the nationwide talent hunt for the weather girls who dont know the bay area. They could easily find all the blond aryan types they need in the whole Pleasanton to Walnut Creek area.
ReplyDeleteThey are like the young hotties on Jay Leno's jaywalking...they might think the Civil War was fought in Iran in 1944,but they sure as hell know the address of every boutique in Union Square and the other malls location all over the bay area. They ain't dumb.
Tim Kawakami's latest paean to Joe Lacob is as close to official Warrior PR as it gets-read it. Tim tells us "Joe has finished a promise to totally change the Warriors".."except for"..(LOL).
ReplyDeleteTim fits here in this topic, because he has developed a latent fixation on the Warriors being the 1995 Los Angeles Lakers in the making.
It's gonna break his heat to realize Its Oakland, not soucal.
There's big difference between being a hottie who knows where Saks is and negotiating a green screen. Think walking and chewing gum...
ReplyDeleteThornton Road, instead of Thornton Avenue, used to drive me crazy when I was residing in Fremont.
