Everyone is marginalized

Radio is pretty much dead. Surprise, didn't I, like, say that, about five minutes ago? So, yeah, I'm repeating myself, it's part of the show here. Thank god for satellite  and Cousin Brucie.

And yet you write about this shit, asshole!

Yes, sort of self-absorbed delight in talking about the nothings, the dim bulbs that currently work the mikes.  And it isn't only radio. TV too, although we still have some decent people behind the camera. We just keep finding ways to make them go away.

Truth is, everything, everybody, the whole schmear, has become marginalized. Insignificance has never been a more appropriate word right about now.

  1. I think news radio has been dead for years. Sports radio-local- on the other hand is slowy joining the 21st century. We are either having a short revival..or a short respite until big bizz makes both stations identical. Well, the lack of diversity on 95.7 is already identical to KNBR. KNBR with one lesbian is a cut above 95.7 with only Eric Davis representing the bay areas other 50%.
Interesting that the biggest back and forth diverse opinion show on 95.7 so far is..Eric Davis's show.
The short window of change is at least a time to hear some real opinions. Enjoy while it lasts.

  4. AA's,Latins and Asian's are more than 50% in total of the bay area...only 5% of KNBR and 95.7 's lineup.

    ps
Its funny that 912 types complain about all the assimilation of ethnics in the neighborhoods...the floods driving out the white people...except when I bring up no representation on radio...then they hardly notice us! WHAT people of color to hire? Where? ..lol

  5. AA's? Do you mean alcoholics? If that's a new one for blacks, I'll have to try harder to keep up. Latins listen to hispanic radio in large numbers, if someone puts a sports talk show there, they might listen. Asians are busy working and succeeding, no time for nonsense like sports talk. Blacks listen when it's about football or basketball, could care less about baseball, or haven't you noticed the crowds at Giant's games. Sorry, no diversity here, only whites are stuck with the dreck that is bay area sports radio.

  6. OMG, Lack of Diversity! Oh the horror!

lol, i wonder what you would see if you went to hispanic and hip hop stations in the bay area? would you see a LACK OF DIVERSITY?!?!

    I'll just bet you would.

if i'm a white male in the radio biz i think i'm gonna start applying at hispanic and urban/hip hop radio stations and then when i'm not hired i'm gonna get my civil rights atty and make some big big cash.

and then i think all the whining about "lack of diversity" would stop and fast.

  7. Lack of diversity? What about the Warriors? They only had 1 Asian (albeit to sell tickets) on the team last year. THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD 2! They should also have had 6 Caucasians, 2 Hispanics, only 1 African American and one Native American/Polynesian.

Then they would have represented the racial demographics of the Bay Area.

  8. 11:48 is on the "purple drank". Asians are too busy working and succeeding to listen to sports talk radio? I believe the Warriors have a predominantly asian following. I'm assuming you're asian. Since you are asian, you'll realize that the term "asian" is a descriptor of many races. Indians, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino, etc. Looking at that group as a whole, I see a huge percentage getting public support such as section 8 housing and food stamps. I also see 6 different races that all hate one another. The Chinese despise Koreans and Japanese, and refer to Vietnamese as the "armpit of Asia". Koreans can't stand Chinese and Whites. It goes on and on. To lump a group of people together and say they're "too busy working and succeeding" is an ignorant comment to say the least. As far as your other comment about Hispanics listening to Hispanic radio in great numbers, all I can think of is failed Spanish language radio station after failed Spanish language radio station. 92.3 anyone? Do us all favor and keep your Asian loving comments to yourself. They're moronic to say the least.

Hopefully that entire post was a joke. The ridiculous racial stereotyping in it was just dumbfounding. Far worse than that Reggie White quote from years ago where he talked about 'The Asian' and 'the Latino' in a broad stereotypical manner (at least Reggie was attempting to compliment them, albeit ignorantly).

  10. KNBR proves my point of pure Racism...when they could have hired a Rick Quan,or Pinoy Emil Guillermo both of whom have called bay area sports for decades..instead they hire bigot Larry Krueger!..and then they are going to pair him with Damon Bruce another conservative who has a jones of hate for Warriors guard Jeremy Lin. And the Giants? One of the biggest nights of the year they have is Filipino American night.
KNBR and now 95.7 should be ashamed at the one sided hires..when they had local Asian experts just for one example.

  11. Hey Moron,
Kreuger is not a racist, he called them caribbean hitters. Dominican Republic is in the caribbean idiot!!, and Felipe Alou did have a cream of wheat brain, the guy was photographed sleeping in the dugout during games!!! One of the absolute worst, if not THE worst manager in giants history. He took comments out of context and went on every media outlet proclaiming this 'great satan'. give me an f ing break. Did you really suggest Rick Quan??? holy crap dude, up the meds.
