The Diminished Radnich; Craft on KGO; Fitz' salary; Wednesday Media dish

Diminished.

He is now firmly secondary. A back-up second-baseman who used to be a clean-up hitter. The uniform used to be nice and shiny. Now its dirty.

When he used to go solo, without the aide of the redneck and Opie, he could still do a damn good interview and be just funny enough to hold you. He was a genius with Jim Brown, Burt Sugar, and Larry King.

Now, he's been paired with one of the few actual relevant tonsils, but so far, it's pure fire and ice. Too many holes of dead air and nervous laughter. Can you say "awkward"? Maybe it will work for the few masses who are actually listening, but I tend to doubt it.

Like I said, diminished.

*I like Christine Kraft on KGO Radio. While I have a few issues with her sometimes catty behavior with callers, she's smart, she does her homework, and she moves the show along on a nice, fluid pace.

Craft, who is a workman's comp attorney by day, has been filling in for the terminally, god-awful, Ray Taliaferro. She should be given the overnight gig permanently, but that would cause WWIII at 900 Front and they have other issues on their plate right now.

*He must have pictures: From an industry source: Bob Fitzgerald reportedly gets about $250 grand a year from the Warriors and roughly $125K from KNBR. Excuse me while I regurgitate.

No argument from me here. At least she's honest. Taliaferro is Barbieri like in his awfulness!

(Felt pretty stupid though when I found out Craft was not not the hot (in her day) former Playboy and TV weathergal Kristine Hanson.)

  2. He's paid well because he's also a company spy on the players. Jim Barnett isn't paid nearly as much and even after all these years he's a year to year contract. I would guess Jim has scruples.
Like with Mike Krukows one mill per year..isn't he a baseball Fitz? a total apologist shill for the home team?
The owners are sending a message-you will be rewarded if you sell out,you will be rewarded if you are a good old boy.

  3. I agree, Christine is confidant with callers and does move the show along well. And it's about time a female news-talker had her own slot, it's been since Shawn Nix had an evening slot, right? Like, 20 years ago? What ever happened to her? Jack, do it before you go, shake some things up!

  4. HAS ANYBODY SEEN GREG PAPA AND FITZ HAVING LUNCH TOGETHER?

  5. Over the years, I've noticed Gary Radnich's knowledge of sports evaporate. It's sad. Watching Damon Bruce's arsenal on the air really makes Radnich look like an aging veteran limping to retirement.

  6. Shawn Nix was great, and so was Mary Ellen Geist.

I seem to remember Shawn was married to a much older man and living in Sonoma at one time.

  7. Notwithstanding the fact that he's just an arrogant prick, what I dont understand about Fitz and the Warriors is he just isn't that good of a play-by-play announcer. Has anyone in the Warriors organization ever really listened to his call of a game? He's not very good or entertaining. I usually watch the Warriors with the sound off.

  8. And Radnich? He flushed Ray Woodsen and Pecon as fast as he could down the toilet when he felt his career slipping. And dont think his modest second banana act this week will last.
Bruce is going to get Radniched soon...

  9. I turned to CSN to watch the Radnich show this morning to see how it looks, and they're not playing it right now. They got an infomercial running.

  10. Great comment above about Radnich's sports knowledge (i.e. that it has evaporated.) I always find it odd as well to hear Ralph Barbieri often say, "I didn't see it" about some important sports event or moment that everybody is talking about. My thought is always: Isn't this what you get paid to do? To stay up on sports so you can talk about it with callers? How about turning on ESPN for 30 minutes before you come to work? Same with Radnich. It's like they're just taking it all for granted, thinking they can coast on the knowledge acquired from when they actually put in the work years ago. And Radnich always makes it sound like he could care less, and my feeling is, then get out of the way and let somebody who cares more have your chair. Looks like that's what they are now doing. This is the beginning of the end for Radnich at KNBR I think. Damon Bruce's energy just seems to diminsh him to a speck of dust. And if Radnich's ratings were great, regardless of his personality, lack of knowledge, etc, they would have not made changes. That he's teaming up with Bruce now demonstrates that his ratings were in decline.

  11. Bob Fitzgerald's days are numbered with the Warriors. The hatred that fans feel towards that creep is escalating by the day, and I for one -- as a 5-year season ticket holder to the Dubs -- have sent a letter to Joe Lacob asking that he make a change to the TV announcing crew. And I'm not talking about Jim Barnett. When the Warriors are on the road, I can't stand to watch the games because I have to listen to Fitzgerald's puny voice and assinine commentary. I know the backstory about how he got the job, etc, and that just adds to the guy's miserable baggage. I can't believe he's getting paid $250,000 by the team because he's such an incompetent. As far as him being a spy for Rowell and Cohan, that makes perfect sense. Monte Moore was Charlie Finley's mole in the old A's clubhouse during the golden era of the early 1970's. It takes a certain kind of man to be that way, and somebody of high character -like Bill King or Lon Simmons -- could never be bought off like that. Fitzgerald, on the other hand, is clearly a person of low character and ethics, although he's apparently been well compensated for his acts of betrayal. So was Judas Iscariot.

I'm not a Bruce fan but I betting this won't happen. Radnich is going to get Radniched soon!

  13. Radnich should do everyone a favor and retire and stop trying to hang on by his fingernails. His time is up.

  14. Rich,
You're hatred of Radnich is troubling. You come across as angry, jealous, and small.

  15. Radnich was told by Lee Hammer and the Dickey brothers to go along with this change because his numbers have tanked in recent years. Damon is certainly on the upswing while Gary's best days are obviously behind him. If you listen to the show you can tell that Gary clearly doesn't like being on equal footing with Damon, but it sounds as if he's going to allow Damon to carry much of the show.
Like chicken and waffles, I think this combo will actually work out and probably save Radnich's career on the radio.

  16. There's no question that Fitz is a first-class weasel, but it sounds as if Lacob is going to hang onto him because Fitz (who is very good at this) brown nosed his way into Lacob's good graces before Lacob could really get to know what a little backstabbing prick Fitz truly is. It's a shame, because Warrior fans deserve better than this little putzy leach who has wormed his way this far due to his ability to suck and brown nose to the highest level.

  17. Look up the word 'Weasel' in the dictionary and guess what you'll see: Bob Fitzgerald's picture!

  18. Christine Craft. No thanks. An angry bitter women.

Radnich is being drawfed by Damon Bruce's personality and command of his sports knowledge.

  19. Stock Up: Damon Bruce.
    Stock down: Gary Radnich
    Happy campers: Knibber listeners!

  20. Why does everyone hate this guy Fitz so much? He's probably just trying to earn a living and fed his family.I'm sure behind closed doors that he's a decent fellow and that his kids and wife love him.

  21. "Why does everyone hate this guy Fitz so much?"

    You really need to ask?

"I'm sure behind closed doors that he's a decent fellow and that his kids and wife love him."

His wife probably ties him up and bends him over on a regular basis...and he loves it...

Is that you, Bob? Rod? (Emphasis) THE Solar Company's Marketing VP? I have seen this exact comment on the Merc boards (right down to the "fed" typo) when it's a Fitz-bashing topic. Which is often. For good reason, too.

His bully pulpit at KNBR is a one-way communication device, whereby even the most thoughtful and cogent discourse is rudely pushed aside if it dares to differ from Napoleon's opinion. Savage has the cred to get away with that tactic. With Bob Fitzgerald, it simply exposes him as a spineless and insecure little man. I would be ecstatic if he permanently continued his media career in another NBA city.

  23. Bob Fitzgerald behind closed doors?

    Just lost my dinner.

  24. Haven't and will not watch Warrior broadcast until Fitzgerald is terminated; don't know how Barnett tolerates that twerp.

  25. Why so much antipathy in this post for Fitz? I happen to like the guy...he seems a very kind,
thughtful and respectful person. As far as his ability on the air, yeah, he's nothing special and he did do something unconsciousabe things to get where it is today.

That said.... I a lot of you posters are young guys who have no concept of having to be responsible for a family, but guess what? Fitz does! He needs to take care of his family....get it? Some people are soooooo clueless!

  26. I wish that decision makers would realize that Fitz is roundly disliked by listeners. I love the Warriors but hate his voice and know-it-all manner.

Outside of his family no one likes him.Do us all a favor and let ride into the sunset.

  27. Bob Fitzgerald attended Serra High, Bonds High School.

This should sum everthing up. At an All Boys High School...Fitz was the head YELL - Cheerleader.

    Say No More...

  28. And don't forget Bob Fitzgerald also gets free electricity, thanks to his commercials telling us how stupid we are for not buying the solar equipment he got for free.

  29. Huh, I always wondered what it paid to take Booby Rowell's load in the ass while simultaneously sucking on Larry Riley's cock. Turns out it's $375k annually.

  30. “a lot of you posters are young guys who have no concept of having to be responsible for a family, but guess what? Fitz does! He needs to take care of his family”

This is the biggest load of horseshit I’ve ever read. Fitz puts HIS OWN job in jeopardy by insulting Warriors fans on the air on a daily basis. the people who he insults, argues with, yells at, calls stupid and generally craps all over are Joe Lacob and Peter Gruber’s PAYING CUSTOMERS. I’m not a young guy and I have a family of my own and I’m the account manager for a construction supply company. If I chewed out and insulted our paying customers every time they called me on the phone I’d be canned so fast my head would spin. Fitz has been doing this to Warriors fans for FIFTEEN YEARS. That’s no way to run a business. Time for Fitz to be given his walking papers and shown the door.
