The 'Rise Guys' (Whitey Gleason, Mark Kreidler) have been added to the SportsRadio 95.7FM line-up beginning August 1 from 6-10 AM. Late of Sports 1140 (KHTK-AM)/Sacramento, they hosted a morning show for the last 12 years and generated some decent industry buzz.
They replace the god-awful 'Monte and JD' show.
Why more of Sacramento hacks? Didnt they just cut two other's they imported from Sacramento that offended about every group in the bay area?

Monte was just too abrasive-and he took to Dibs like oil and water.Still, if that duo is anything like all the other Sacratomato sports jocks-yeee-hahh! get out your cowboy hats,boots, and big O'le beltbuckle...
What does this mean for Dibs? You wonder if Dibs regrets the move to FM.

Don't know anything about the rise guys but agree the old show was horrible - some of the comments they made displayed a shocking lack of sports knowledge

I feel sorry for that JD guy-he would tell Monte on air to tone it down,that he(JD) had bills to pay,food to buy. Still,I thought they were better than the Snuggles on KNBR. I think Murphy wears the red t shirt.
Dibley will be part of the Rise Guys morning show. I still don't understand why some people are questioning 95.7's recent moves. Folks, they're trying to challenge KNBR. You're not going to achieve that goal by hiring some of the weak ass local talent that we have in this market. Some of the people that they've brought in from outside the market, like Brandon Tierney, are good hires. And please, no more whining about Rick Tittle. He's not going to move the needle in this market.

You do realize that Sacramento is 100 miles away...not a hundred years away. You do realize that the Sacramento stations have the same corporate parents and top down programming and "standards and practices" staffs as the San Francisco (and aren't they just lighting the world on fire with their fantastic programming) stations.
It must hurt being this stupid!
So what to expect tomorrow? Monte and JD doing a lame duck show for two weeks? Or more revolving guest hosts for two weeks?
ReplyDeleteAnd to 12:30..Your nuts if you think the Sacratomato talent that I've heard on 95.7 and KTRB last year is deep sports talk. Its been all frat boy,misogynistic,bordering racist humor. And they talk in that annoying "Morning Zoo" voice. Feh,on Sacramento "talents".
It would really be nice to get some talent that is able to talk about sports and not about every other trivial activities in their lives!

ReplyDeleteMonte had some talent-but he played it all wrong. Too abrasive,obnoxious...and attacking Dibs from day one was strange. Being that Dibs is the only name the station has,Monte was self destructive.
To those equating the Rob, Arnie and Sports show to the Rise Guys... You've obviously never listened to the Rise Guys. RA&S is an absolutely atrocious show. They are terrible in any and all markets, that's why they quite their sports show this week to "focus" more on their morning drive talk show in Sacramento. The Rise Guys are great and they will work great on 95.7 sports radio with Dibs. I am sad they won't be on in Sacramento anymore but I will be listening on the web.
