Stow/LA Tragedy gets wider attention from National Press; LA Times, others weigh in on Dodger Stadium Incident

Dodger Stadium

The ugly, tragic incident involving Giants' fan, Bryan Stow, down in Dodger Stadium, Opening Night has now reached full circle in the national news front, and today, a blistering account from T.J. Simers in the LA Times.

Initially, the incident drew mostly local attention with scant coverage elsewhere. Now, its received wider-scale coverage from the NY Times, ESPN, and mostly all the network morning news shows. Even the Guardian and European press have made note of it.

And there's now word from CBS that "60 Minutes" may do a segment on it and examine the security issues involving fans in most sporting arenas throughout the country.

One thing's for certain: what began as a mostly local/state story has now emerged into a truly national on-going story that has penetrated the networks, cable, on-line sites, social-networking locales like Facebook and Twitter.

  1. Meanwhile, a couple of Gangsta Thugs are reveling in their "manly" attack...getting kudos from their boyz in the hood--probably getting a promotion within their Gang.

  2. Whats also sad -but true I think-is if he had died that night,it would have stayed a page three story. Just like the other baseball killing storys. Or,last year- a elderley man-near 80,was beaten up at ATT..how is he? I dont know..the media barely talked about it.
It's that Stow is young, a paramedic with family, and in a state that frightens everybody caused by another senseless act that I think caused the backlash.
I hope the Dodgers pay through the nose as Dodger Stadium was getting a reputation for being dangerous and almost nothing was done by the ownership to make it safe.

  3. Another thought about the uncaring Dodger security-there is no way that the parking lot shouldn't be well lit, with cameras covering the range of the lot to the point it would be impossible to attack somebody, run to your car, drive across acres of asphalt, and out of the stadium-and not be filmed!..Hell,my local Walmart does that!

  4. I'm willing to bet the gangsta thugs are enjoying their time. Let hope they are caught and hung, but I have my doubts.

  5. Just hope these punk asses get caught up in a shoot out with LAPD, and they end up in body bags. Miserable excuses for human beings.

  6. the owners don't want to talk about cause i think there are problems at more than just Dodger Stadium and if the lawyers can prove a pattern of violence that the owners have ignored then the owners may be in trouble....

also there are some hilarious comments in the LA Times article inc one by somebody who claims to a 5'6" Asian guy, kind of a computer nerd and he says the cops always harass him when he tries sipping booze in his car before the game but they let the gangbangers drink and raise hell out in the open because the cops are afraid to do or say anything about it...
