Bruce Jenkins, your unabashed SF Giants fan

Three Dot Blog

Bruce Jenkins is regarded as a sports journalism god which is becoming more curious by the day as his unbridled anti-LA Dodgers fetish continues.

The latest scribbling from Jenkins deals with the Giants' Buster Posey getting hit, (twice) by Dodgers pitcher, Ted Lilly. Jenkins rants and raves and calls out the EL-Layers. Fine. That's not the point.

Jenkins has a right to be a Giants fan. Funny, I thought he was a columnist.

Keep in mind that when Juan Uribe shunned the Giants after the post-season and signed as a free-agent with the Dodgers, Jenkins called the move, "disturbing." Disturbing? Huh?

This is not me spewing for or against the Dodgers or the Giants for that matter. It's more like, wouldn't you profess to want a celebrated columnist be, oh, I don't know, a tad more objective? Did Jenkins suddenly become a member of the booster club? If you read him lately, that's the obvious conclusion.

Yo, Bruce: that's weak.

  1. Dump Amy G. and have Darya take her spot. It would make my game viewing alot more fun. The arching of the back, making everything look as big as possible. I would definitely grab some pine, meat.

  2. Jenkins is a columnist, not a reporter.
A reporter gathers facts and information on an event of public interest and then presents them in a readable style to inform the reader.
A columnist gives opinions based upon facts. A columnist has more latitude and license than a reporter and is not constrained by the rule of impartiality that governs news writing.
    Rich, learn the difference.
Agree, with 1:07, Darya as sideline reporter (and sporting one of those MLB Alyssa Milano Giants tops) would greatly improve the broadcasts.

  3. Jenkins is like quite a few sportswriters-afraid,very afraid to cross the Giants. It's a good thing the Giants are winners since it's easy on the ears or eye balls to hear or see homerism. At least it has a point. It's when the team stinks and all season you make excuses, that causes a Fitz to feel like a toothache.

  4. I'm reading this and listening to knbr tell people that the A's should leave and that they are not important to the bay area. I seriously want to scream. The SF media and giants are basically one and the same. They ignore A's world championships and past attendance numbers with glee. Jenkins is just another mouthpiece.

I wil never forget bay area reporters WEARING giants jerseys after the series. That NEVER happened after all FOUR A's championships. Giants = Slime.

  5. Bruce Jenkins is the old guy at the end of the bar people used to be delighted to talk with, and now, seeing him at the end of the bar quickly scamper to the opposite end, lest they spend their leisure time hearing old war stories.
Much like the Chronicle,an era past...

  6. I just read the jenkins blog/column and it was embarrassing. For his sake I hope he's on the Giants payroll!

If not, I'm not sure why he's acting like a 12 year old boy who just saw his favorite player get hit by a pitch.

  7. Jenkins writes an opinion column. Asking him to be objective is like asking Rich Lieberman to be objective about KNBR and Gary Radnich: that's not what their writing is for.

  8. thank you Mr. Wyatt - like him or hate him Jenkins write a sports column, he is not an objective reporter. And once again all the conspiracy theorists have it all figured out - anyone who writes anything favorable about whatever team, they have to be on the payroll!
