Sacramento Mob attack on TV News crew; Lobertini worked at KPIX
If John Lobertini, part of a Sacramento TV news crew attacked by a mob outside a makeshift memorial, looks familiar, he should.
Lobertini used to work for KPIX in SF before being fired in 2008 in what the station deemed to be a financial move. (Lobertini, 48, filed an age-discrimination suit against CBS. The case was dismissed after an appeal.)
"This is one of the hazards of the business, but I've gotta tell you we didn't expect what we encountered here," Lobertini said during his broadcast after the attack.
Lobertini and his camera person, Rebecca Little, of FOX 40 News, were assaulted after approaching a group of people standing near a memorial for 27-year-old Chester Jackson, who was gunned down the night before at a local IHOP restaurant.
Neither Lobertini nor Little were injured in the fracas.
