Getting slack for ripping into Karel. As if I were attacking Cronkite.
Fact is, it's a weekend slot from 7-10 PM. There's no traction there and yes, KGO is reachin'. I mean, seriously.
I could care less about Karel's politics, race, gender, sexual orientation, etc--fact is, Karel is predictable, repetitive and does the same tired show regularly. He's boring and when he occasionally strays away from politics and tries to be cute, he's amazingly shallow and lousy. Just my opinion.
And he's sure as hell ain't no singer. But KGO is desperate for the 12 people left in that supposed demo they're after not out dancing, listening to their Ipod or mp3-player or satellite radio.
So Karel is a safe pick; he's not going to ruffle any feathers on Saturday night or Sunday.
Next.
I’ll take Karel any day over that self-aggrandized-holier-than-thou-my-wife-is-super-intendent-of-a-school-district-and-my-dog’s-name-is-Einstein-know-it-all career and life coach Nemko.
ReplyDeleteYe, Gods.
ReplyDeleteKarel?
As a poster said in the thread below: Blech.
Karel is a tedious blabbermouth with a limited range of interests and knowledge. What did we do to deserve him?
AH
Did I just hear the well-respected but hot-tempered Dr. Bill Wattenburg have a nuclear meltdown? *chuckles*
ReplyDeleteToo bad KGO didnt add more hours to Dr. Bills show.
ReplyDeleteI was never a Karel fan, although I thought KGO firing him over the open-mike incident was unfortunate. One of the best routines I ever heard Karel do was his take on the Academy Awards as they were happening. His flaming commentary was funny as hell and far more interesting than the TV Red Carpet coverage or the show itself. My sister, brother-in-law and I listened to it as we were driving back to the East Bay from The City. We were all holding our stomachs from laughing so hard. I wish him luck this time around and have to agree that it will be better than Marty Nemko on Sunday. Also agree it will be fun to listen to the first few minutes of Dr. Bill's apoplexy after three hours of Karel. JW
