KPIX(CBS5)'s Simon Perez, a widely-respected General Assignment reporter for the CBS o and o, has resigned and will be leaving the station to begin a teaching position, according to a reliable broadcast source.
Perez, who joined KPIX in 2002, is the latest high-profile name to leave the outlet, although the source indicated that Perez' departure is not in any way "acrimonious."
In 1993, Perez began his television career at the NBC News Channel in Charlotte, NC as a writer and producer for Canal de Noticias, a 24-hour newscast in Spanish, broadcast to Central and South America and Spain.

Another one bites the dust! Too bad. I always thought he was one of Channel 5's best reporters. KPIX Channel 5 is a revolving door. You never know from one day to the next who will be there, and who will disappear.
ReplyDeleteWow, another gone from 855 Battery. Did you know that Sherry Hu has also departed? Ann Notarangelo mentioned it on her FB page last week.
ReplyDeleteApparently Hu was on leave, but decided not to go back as she's now dedicating "her time, energy and talents to the children attending Oakland schools".
I remember reading something a year or two ago, where Simon Perez said there was no way he could remain in the Bay Area as a reporter for KPIX because he couldn't afford to buy a house for his family.
ReplyDeleteGood scoop. You work because every now and then you are right. You deserve recognition, but you dilute that success with lazy rants that wouldn't become any respectable person.
ReplyDeleteYou just need to commit to a persona. Hopefully you realize the right one.
Whos next? Hope not Ann Notorangelo, shes a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Tracy, the KPIX morning and afternoon meteorologist?
ReplyDeleteThis. New format where the anchor Juliet Goodrich runs around the studio sometimes in leather reporting on these feel good stories instead of hard news. This is not the Kpix news of Wendy Tokuda and Dave Macelhatton. Kpix has lost its mojo.
