KTVU is dark, literally.
The Oakland Fox affiliate has lost its signal to the NFL game featuring the Redskins and Green Bay Packers.
And its been over 45 minutes and counting.
UPDATE: 11: 43
Hooray! After an hour and 43-minute loss of signal in the Eastbay, KTVU has returned to the air.
KTVU back on air.
What was that all about? I'm in Santa Rosa and had a black screen, but my friends in Healdsburg were getting the game!
ReplyDeleteIt's odd that KTVU didn't put up something, anything, with a crawl saying they have no signal from the bird. If the national feed was dead, they would still have their own signal going out over the air and through cable and satellite providers. If the national feed was dead, it would have been huge news reported on other news outlets.
ReplyDeleteSomething serious must happened at the station. Otherwise they could have switched to another game or put up an infomercial or episode of "I Love Lucy." Even an intern could have handled something like that if it's not a NABET or CWA issue over touching the controls.
Nowadays it's a fairly mundane process to just throw on some other programming. I think this is far worse, and indicative of how the bean counters who are taking over at radio and TV stations all over are screwing up operations by laying off or forcing out technical staff.
This very serious. I would have expected something like this from KRON, not KTVU.
