Damon Bruce, on his KNBR 1050 Noon show, slammed hard into the Bay media coverage of Thursday night's disaster in San Bruno.
(As I indicated in an earlier post, I didn't see any of the immediate TV coverage--based on what I heard, its probably a good thing.)
Bruce, in his typical, a-typical off-script format, lambasted the TV people, ("22 year-old college kids from Iowa who don't have a clue" was one beauty.)
He also mentioned the now-standard fare, (lets call it laziness) of some stations immediate fixation into taking calls from residents, (KRON got burned by a fake Howard Stern putz.)
Certainly Bruce shows a great degree of personal pedigree to know what's important; how to "read the room"--indeed, they don't call sports the "toy dept." for nothing, nevertheless, it was both refreshing and honest of Bruce to devote his opening segment to what matters most.
Too bad some of his counterparts don't do the same.
