SF media all out on Mehserle verdict

Most all SF major media outlets--TV, radio, newspapers, have reporters in LA as the jury begins deliberations in the Johannes Mehserle murder trial.

A verdict could come as soon as today, although that is highly unlikely.

Most legal analysts say next week is the most likely date.

Local TV is ready for the verdict as plumes of reporters have already descended on Downtown Oakland to ask business owners about the possibility of riots should a "not-guilty" verdict come down. (Although the jury has been given legal options to convict on lesser charges than first-degree murder.)

All five TV outlets--KTVU, KGO, KPIX, NBC Bay Area and KRON--plan major coverage. Both KGO and KCBS Radio plan extensive coverage, as does KQED-FM and newspaper websites like SFGate, Bay City News and others.

**Side notes: If rioting does erupt, expect the usual onslaught of every local TV chopper available...Several stations planned "extended coverage" segments which usually indicate at least an extra 10-15 minutes. That is huge...All stations, except KRON have reporters in LA. Both KGO and KCBS also have reporters in the Southland.

UPDATE: 10: 29 AM:

CORRECTION: Informed that KRON has Dan Kerman in LA.
