Bay Area media go all out on 580 Fwy shooting; KCBS, KTVU, SFGate stand out

The 580 Freeway shooting involving a motorist dressed in armor and the CHP and Oakland Police brought out a full-course Bay Area media, with heavy props to the SF Chronicle, and SF Gate in particular, and to steady, all-news radio standby, KCBS.

Local TV was all over the incident on Sunday, when the initial story went from the shooting and the suspect involved, to covering the traffic mess in the Eastbay and when the freeway would be open again to drivers. Again, kudos to KCBS, where its six, hourly traffic updates served Bay Area drivers well, all the more so on a busy, sunny, summer Sunday.

KTVU and ABC7 graded "A's" too with detailed, up-to-the-minute coverage on local TV.
