Elaine McKay out at KRON; weather/traffic reporter since 2007

Elaine McKay has been let go at KRON.

She had been doing weather and traffic reports at the 1001 Van Ness outpost since 2007. McKay posted a farewell on her Facebook account.

415 Media attempted to contact her to comment, but was unable to get a response at press time.

A report indicated that KRON chose to eliminate her position.

  1. What? But she is the best traffic reporter in the entire bay area. I am shocked. Truly KRON is not thinking. Then again, they have not been thinking for a long time. Big loss.

  2. Shame. Elaine is one of the few on-camera traffic reporters who "get it." She should have been working in the MORNINGS. Instead, the mornings are full of reporters who a) do little more than just string together maps & camera shots without any clue to the bigger picture, b) talk too fast & mumble, c) think they're funny, and d) exploit the smallest, useless traffic tidbits - for filler, for show, for their own entertainment? Who knows. Unless it's a HUGE traffic item I need to know about, I tend to tune them out.

Elaine's refreshing, pleasant and straight-forward reporting will be sorely missed.

  3. Blonde-but over 30. Over 30 you need model looks to talk on the same set as Radnich..Pam's even blonde and holding...

  4. And when Rich brings up secret affairs at KRON and who's sleeping..that might explain who stays and isnt blonde.

  5. TWIT TV. That's what I call KRON 4. It's entry-level television for every big-breasted bimbo looking for work. Let me guess? It's a MAN doing the hiring?

  6. What a shame, I'd seen Elaine cover so many different roles from traffic, weather and even the news at one point. Lovely, smart and articulate without resorting to low cut tops. What else could they possibly want?

  7. Leo Lapote at www.twit.tv takes offense of being compared to KRON....

  8. I worked with Elaine years ago. Classy and smart woman. NOT a TWIT. KRON's mistake will be another station's gain... She will get snatched up by another station in no time.

  9. Smart woman, pleasing voice and delivery, attractive, multi-talented... Geez KRON, you're letting THAT go? Good luck in your future endeavors, Elaine.
