Gary Radnich spent the better part of two hours Thursday on KNBR ripping Jerry Rice over his decision to pursue professional golf.
Rice is currently playing in the Nationwide tour; not very well, but nevertheless trying. (He missed the cut in the Hayward stop in the tour in early April)
Radnich maintained it was a pr gimmick and that Rice was looking to make a buck off his name.
Wrong.
A Rice spokesperson said JR wasn't "paid a cent." Dan Dibley, Radnich' sidekick even chided Raddy. "Garry, he didn't make a dime--it all goes to his charity." Newsman Ray Woodson concurred.
To be fair, I'm not the biggest Rice fan, but if HOF dude wants to play golf, let him play golf. As a caller later said, "what's he going to do--sit at home and watch TV all day?"

I didn't listen this morning, but I agree if the dude wants to play golf, let him play golf. Who cares if he makes money at it or if it's for charity.
ReplyDeleteTwo hours of Radnich.....is a little too much. So who cares what the motive is. Guess there's not much going on, when Radnich has two hours to waste on this.
ReplyDeleteRadnich sold his soul so many times the devil gave up finding it....remember when Ratnich would pick on John Madden for selling everything? now from a guy who swore he would never have guests....sound drops or get paid to say go giants this attack on rice smells of the usual ratty hypocrisy....anyone who is running from knbr to comcast to kron to make a buck to cover his overhead all the while running radio gags he ran 15 years ago needs to stop attacking rice and get a grip on his own shortcomings if he can find them....maybe one of his selfabsorbed radio staff is sitting on his grip....
