A little grunting inside NBC Bay Area; new News Director poking around

There is word from a good source that "everyone is on 'edge" inside the newsroom at NBC Bay Area down in San Jose. And it has nothing to do with Jay Leno.

The nervous nerves have to do with one Jonathan Mitchell, the new news director at the Silicon Valley NBC affiliate. Seems like he's already trying "new" things even though the local NBC station has a decent news staff and ratings-nirvana Olympics programming coming in February.

A staff reduction, (read: cutbacks) and the recent Comcast purchase of NBC has added to the jitters, but Mitchell, who came from Spokane, Wash. is at the center of the angst.

Word from the source: (who requested I don't their name) The new guy seems fine, but he's very young and already requiring "walk and talk" stand ups etc. We go through this every time someone new comes -- somehow if we are not sitting down the ratings will go up ;). It's not a big deal, but it's just so predictable.
