Ad Guy: 'Tiger could lose 'tier-two' sponsor if story gains traction
So far, Tiger Woods has not lost any of his advertising endorsements, despite the continuing developments in the story, including more tabloid/internet revelations of Woods alleged sexual dalliances with at least eight women.
That could change this week.
A noted SF ad guy with at least thirty years of experience says one of Woods "tier-two" sponsors, (perhaps Gillette?) is considering pulling out of its affiliation.
"If the story continues to gain traction, I'd bet that one of his 'lesser-known clients will pull away," said the source, who requested anonymity.
The source did not directly mention the particular company, but business insiders have speculated it is Gillette, which is owned by Procter and Gamble.
Stay tuned, as they say.

I heard that Tiger Woods has a new product to endorse- Cheetos!
ReplyDeleteIn a related note, today Gatorade discontinued its "Gatorade Tiger Focus" drink. They took pains to say that the decision was made way before all the recent Woods family craziness. (Um, OK.)
