It's Official: Jackie Bennett Is Leaving KRON; Last Day Jan. 28

It's now official-- Jacqueline Bennett is leaving KRON. Her last day is January 28. We reported it first.

Bennett has been forecasting weather at KRON since 2008 but her popularity took a significant upswing in recent years to the point where she was given the primetime Monday-Friday news schedule and became one of the more popular personalities at the independent.

No word on where Bennett will end up but a good guess is down south where many KRON weatherwomen end up.

We should know something fairly soon. We always do one way or the other. We'll keep you informed.

415 Media Source: Jacqueline Bennett Leaving KRON

KRON's blond bombshell weatherwoman, Jacqueline Bennett is leaving the station, according to one of my spies.

Reasons are unknown although Bennett is said to be, possibly, looking for more visibility and might be tired of KRON's albatross status and lean budgetary ways. (Those moving costs are huge, you know.)

Read: more money, bigger market. Just a guess there.

She's been reporting the weather at the station since 2008 and forecasts on the 5, 6, 8 and 11 PM newscasts.

No word on when she's leaving but it's sooner rather than later which might explain this, and Bennett isn't the only one looking around. In fact, if you're a blonde, female and weather anchor, life outside the Bay Area can be rewarding.

KRON'S Biggest Star Is Not Gary Radnich Or Darya Folsom; Jacqueline Bennett Weather Wonder Woman; Thursday Starter

Jacqueline Bennett is the chief meteorologist at KRON.

She has star power--how much?

Enough to generate mass interest from TV stations beyond the KRON landscape.

We've watched Bennett since her debut here in 2008 and admire her keen weather predicting and magnificent presence on the air.

Bennett has lots of assets including a fine sense of humor and ace in her field. We just hope she doesn't end up in LA anytime soon like others have.

Here's to you Jackie and more high-pressure systems this Summer.

Remember Mancow, The Radio Guy Who Had a Haircut On The Bay Bridge?; Radnich-Bennett 'Spat' on KRON Puppy Love; Yeah, There's a Drought and KPIX5 Paul Deanno Has Huge Sideburns; Friday Starter

Mancow Muller
Erich “Mancow” Muller has departed TRN and is going into new ventures on his own.

You might remember it was Mancow that made headlines here many years ago by having a haircut on the Bay Bridge and causing a major traffic nightmare.

His station, (KSOL at the time) and its owner were fined 500 grand. He left the Bay Area and proceeded to make millions in Chicago radio and the rest is history.

If radio fails maybe Mancow could work for Chris Christie.

*Don't be all worked up over that alleged on-air cursing spat between Gary Radnich and weather chick, Jackie Bennett Thursday night on KRON.

I didn't see it but got a few e-mails. I don't think it was anything more than some innocent puppy love between Raddy and the high-pressure priestess with the tight top.

*The faux concerned-look by local anchors when the weather guessers tell us, piously, that there's no rain in sight continues to both irritate and amuse me. As if they're the executioner about to lower the boom on the body. Guys, enough already, we get periodic droughts and then we get enough rain to flood all the BMW's ever purchased in Marin. We'll get through all of this and nobody will get hurt except our pocketbook from the water mafia companies.

*Yo, Paul Deanno, KPIX weatherman: Dude, what's with the uber-sideburns? Trying to court the Fremont ladder demo?
