Ronn Owens' Timely Vacation; SussMAN Frivolity; Radnich Has No Say on Scott; Ibanez Key at KTVU; Friday Media Scrambled Eggs

FRIDAY MEDIA SCRAMBLED EGGS

*Fresh off one of the more insipid closing hours on his Thursday show at KGOne, the Mattress Man took a much-needed vacation.

Ronnn, with orders from the boy wonder and the elusive "younger demo", devoted 45 dreck minutes to "The most 'annoying song" during 11-Noon, with periodic, peripatetic song bumpers from crapmeister, Chris Hernandez, (themes are my life).

Amazingly, on a day filled with abundant local and national news topic, the Owens third hour was el-wasto en mass with gutter content mixed with inane callers who must have culled from the Modesto Arby's. Nice touch, that'll be sure to attract the Ipod crowd, KGOne boys and girls. Maybe you should call and see if you can get a Juston Bieber impersonator. It's a small world after all.

*Yeah, maybe Brian SussMAAAAAn, is frustrated and therefore, not GREAT! Perhaps he feels the impending implementation of Melanie alone, who can more than handle the KSFO morning commotion when the MANNN churns out his GREAT! crap. GREAT! SussMANNN may be a GREAT American, but he's not such a GREAT co-host. That's not me, Suss; that's the audience out there speaking its GREAT voice.

*Memo to the local masses: Gaaary Radunich has zero power other than they were kind enough to give him a modest two-year re-up because he has marginal Q followings and a name. He CAN'T. REPEAT: CAN'T "get rid" of anyone on that Knibber cruise ship, most especially the young, boring, why-the-hell-is-she-here, Kate Scott, who adds nothing to a nothing show. Knibber going after the female demo is like Mel Gibson courting the Beverly Hills Haddassah. Radnich is a hired hand, pure and simple, and like his baby mama, Lee Hammer, has zippo cachet in the juice dept. The man that makes the call at 55 Hawthorne is bigger than Hammer, Radnich and Krueger combined, whatever that's worth.

*Hey Comcast SportsNet Bay Area: way to showcase your immense Warriors' brown nose with a truly hideous performance during Wednesday night's Boston pre, game, and post-game Monta Ellis/Bogut trade propaganda. And where WAS Matt Steinmetz? The ONLY voice-of-reason over at Shill Headquarters at on Third street. By the way, memo to  the News Director, they still can't stand you and talk about it in the lunch room.

*Mark Ibanez at KTVU is one of the most tenured Channel 2 players over in Oakland. His contract is nearing an end, (a number of sources indicate that a re-up is a mere formality); as much as some of you may be surprised, I like Ibanez. He's a terrific writer, he's a Bay Area guy, and he still GOES OUT to the game, unlike most his co-horts. He's worth the $350K he's getting and more.
