NBC Bay Area to use Comcast Sports Content--We're supposed to be happy? (And surprised?)

*NBC Bay Area (KNTV-11) will begin using Comcast SportsNet Bay Area to provide content on its 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. Lovely. Can't wait. The further marginalization of the local sports/newscast. We're supposed to be happy with this "evolutionary" move, but in reality, its just a further erosion of that age-old relic called "live and local."

As I've stated before on this site: Comcast SportsNet Bay Area: a boatload of corporate cash that funds splashy state-of-art studios and high-def monitors along with local pick-up of the Giants, Warriors, and Sharks and A's.

Most of their talent are fairly robotic and uninspiring. They are more a content provider rather than an original content producer. They have charted a rather prolific and methodical, mostly antiseptic approach to bringing Bay Area sports cable viewers, (and other markets) coverage. It's not the least bit original nor enlightening. They keep it simple which is consistent with their business model. Safe and sanitized.

Outside of a few documentaries and one nightly snooze fest, they don't bring anything new or inspiring to the table. Their reliance on younger, cheaper, blonder female "reporters" happy as all get-go to be in the 4th biggest market is quite apparent on a daily basis.

That's not to suggest anything sinister. Its more like keeping the corporate bosses happy in Philadelphia; that's the only thing that counts these days.
