Barbieri/KNBR; Vern and KPIX; Roberta and Hackney; Angela Alioto is no Gloria Allred; Wednesday Rundown

What does it say about the state of Bay Area radio that a guy who got whacked at Knibber is the talk of the town?

Funny, and sad, really to listen to the mental midgets on Knibber. Gotta just love what they're thinking. Ralph, if nothing else, left a huge footprint. Sure he slowed down and sure he was heading into the twilight, but at least he meant something.

The Knibber posers, I'm sure, have been told a hundred times not to even think of mentioning Ralph because of the legal situation. The 9-Nooner hasn't a clue as he talks his usual gibberish with his partner, the betting fool. Same old tired material. Like a wind-up doll. Maybe he's got a lot on his plate, but damn, have you noticed how hyper he is? I suspect he's fearful of an e-mail from the Hammer lad, (no power, I told you--think Bungeroth).

---Meanwhile:

*Vern Glenn begins his weekend gig at KPIX. Finally, after twenty years, away and free from the (once), big cat.

*Roberta Gonzales will not be moved to weekend weather at PIX because, as much as Rosenheim loves Hackney, that won't work well, particularly the men that adore Roberta. Besides, Brian Hackney absolutely hates doing weather as you know, Dan; put him on special assignment and let him do science stories.

*KGO Radio Update: Maybe all the union engineers decided to take a vacation. More dead air than a Death Valley Howard Johnson's.

*Did you read the Barbieri complaint? I finally did scan through the 29 or so pages. I'm not a lawyer, but I say he has a case.

*Larry Baer/Sabean connection to Ralph/KNBR demise: Lots. Stay tuned here for more info.

*Heard Angela Alioto on with Gil Gross: Angela isn't Gloria Allred. If she's gonna pick a fight, she damn well knows the right one. And unlike Allred, she doesn't want nor need the publicity. Trust me.

*I'm not suddenly a Ralph admirer. I ripped him many times and we have had numerous run-ins, but that said, I hope he kicks major ass. Yes, repeat, I'm rooting for him. At least he has a conscience. Self-centered, sure, a bit cranky and old, absolutely, but someone has to fight these inglorious bastards because the rest of the herd has no balls. They sell mattresses and act like sheep.

*95.7 The Game: You really look sad. Hell, you mock and make fun of the other guys and then proceed to have one of their guys on the air. Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people listened. Now what? And Tierney? Tell us about your NY days. How's the after-dinner mints?

*The Raiders definitely want a new radio outlet for their broadcast rights in the future. Right now, they're in radio Siberia.

*Tolbert is fine solo. He doesn't need the ex-baseball jock with the Red Bull lungs. It does him no good. And as for Mr. Hyper, he's just a royal pain in the tuchas. Not really worth much. Keep tweeting.
