KTVU 'Point After' Hideous; Bailey O'Carroll OMG; 49ers' PG Shows Nausea...

49 comments:

  1. Bailey looks uncomfortable on camera and she simply doesn't know sports. Her pronunciation of player names is sub-par. On the other hand, Maria Taylor is a former athlete, looks incredible on camera and talks sports like a professional. She's also close to 40, but looks and acts very youthful.

    1. Bailey doesn't need to be an athlete, but she's either not much of a sports fan and/or she doesn't do her homework before she goes on-air.

  2. Remember when Montana played so well he took Steve DeBerg;s job? Purdy looks very rusty but out only 2 games, doesn't look good all year; maybe sit him down after all his replacement found ways to win, Bosa is sorely missed

    1. Purdy looked good when he had a good D. Without Bosa the rest of the way, this is when we'll see the real Purdy.

  3. Stop attacking Bailey, the kid is in over her head. That's obvious. If anything, this is just a sad commentary on KTVU. Your bloviated sensationalism, is puerile and you come off as a miserable angry douche-bag. Direct your animus toward the station and a team that is lifeless, battered and will limp through the season watching the post season from their couches.

    1. Well, seems to me Rich did just that which you are saying he did not. He is pointing out the obvious that Bailey is better off not in sports (she comes off as clueless with nothing more than the obvious recap lacking any elaboration or insight) and KTVU management now in flux has had their collective heads up their asses for years now. I thought they were going to do away with sports after pushing Ibanez out but those idiots evidently forgot they cover the 49ers and doubled down with clueless on air staff not even in the field of sports. KTVU by far is the dumbest Bay Area News Station. Jef York needs to call Fox to put an end to this bullshit.

  5. Sal offered no insight on the Point After. At least Bailey is attractive Sal is ugly, looks uncomfortable, artificial smile. What sports background does he have, zero.

  6. Ktvu’s postgame show was bad but it could’ve been much worse: at least they didn’t use Frank Mallicoat as they did the first three weeks.

  7. Were the 49ers playing the Jaguars or Jagwires? The radio announcer kept calling them the Jagwires. That drives me nuts!!!

  8. Even your pal on ABC7, Sara Hodges, proudly says JagWires!!!

  9. @ 7:34 Should we call purdy butterfingers? Or butter hands? Lost the game all by his lonesome self, bring back the substitute

  10. @ RL & 6:24 Leave Bailey the "F" alone, she's doing a fine job, ya male chauvinistic pigs

    1. Hi Bailey. Jaguars is a two syllable word, not three.

    2. @ 11:36 I agree, majority of so called men can't handle a female sports reporter

      Delete
    3. @10:22 it has nothing to do with being female, and everything to do with credibility. Bailey doesn't know sports, mispronounces names constantly, and asks dumb questions. As Rich mentioned, there are credible females like Maria Taylor. Look her up on YT and you'll see the huge contrast from Bailey.

    4. Chauvinism is displaying a male superiority over the female sex. In Bailey's case, it's not chauvinism - it's a dislike for an unqualified individual in the role they perform. Big difference.

  11. Looks like Bailey isn’t the only one at ktvu without a clue about sports. James Torrez has spent the morning repeatedly calling Giants star Willy Adames “Willy Adams.” And apparently nobody in the newsroom knows any better, because he’s been butchering it nonstop all morning.

    1. Adames will be a Giant for another six seasons. What are the chances Bailey and James will continue to butcher his name?

      Delete
    2. Torres is Hispanic as is Adames but does not know the pronunciation of such name. Where does KTVU find such talent? Pathetic.

  12. I didn't watch yesterday's show. Was Frank Mallacoat co-anchoring, cutting off and talking over Bailey at every turn like he did last week?

  13. She's nothing more than a fan girl with little to no substantive knowledge of the sport. I turned it off once I realized her entire “post-game analysis” boiled down to repeating, over and over, that the Niners turned the ball over too much and need to get their running game going.

  14. I still think that "Bailey O'Carroll" sounds like a name belonging to a 1960s stripper at the old Condor Club.

  15. 7:34, you are an idiot. Replace Purdy for one bad game? Look at his record you asshat.

    1. @ 10:45 Great QB's that never won a SB will be soon forgotten, Purdy is a "morning glory QB", records looks good until failure when it counts (See SB losses)

    2. @ 10:45 Oct 2 proves my point, do we see Mac Jones as #1? Dejavu ala Steve DeBerg all over again?

  16. Go back to the rock you crawled out from, Bailey.

  17. Our Peewee League has a better post game show.
Shouldn't the Niners have some input on who is on the show.
    Unwatchable.

  18. I have watched her. She is very young and probably has not received much tutelage at KTVU. As a positive, she is easy on the eyes and has a pleasant voice. She certainly is not as bad as Jenny Kavnar, the A's PBP lady who has a horrible voice for TV and makes tons of mistakes judging the ball. Give Bailey some time. She is human and deserves a chance to succeed. No need to be that critical of her.

    1. Gone are the days of being hired based on qualifications. Bailey is equivalent to a AA baseball player. She still needs a lot more seasoning in the minors. Jenny is very similar, but more disappointing since she has years of major league experience. Calling her terrible is a gross understatement.

  19. Let Joe Fonsy enjoy retirement!!!

    1. Its Fonzi. Not as cool as “The Fonz” Henry Winkler. Yup, he should be retired with Tom Vacar. Is Fonzi really that old though as Rich is saying?

  20. I emailed Bailey and told her how terrible she was and thanked me for my negative feedback. LOL She has zero Bay Area sports knowledge. Work on that player pronunciation Bailey. This is from her own KTVU profile page... I kid you not!

"Originally from San Marcos, Calif., Bailey studied sports journalism at Arizona State University before starting her career at KOLD News 13 in Tucson. (Not a very good job of studying sport journalism or analyzing an NFL game you should have just watched for 3 1/2 hours. Tell us something!)

At KOLD, Bailey covered a range of stories including the Phoenix Suns' road to the NBA Finals, The University of Arizona’s women’s basketball teams national championship run, an NCAA men's basketball tournament, and the college ba seball world series in Omaha, Nebraska. (No college football or covering NFL experience other than what KTVU has given her in covering the Niners.)

While she wasn’t a star athlete by any stretch, Bailey has loved sports for as long as she can remember, telling her parents at the age of two her favorite movie was "The Green Bay Packers". (Go move to Wisconsin then Bailey and cover the green and yellow. You're not even a Niners fan!)

After attending her first college basketball game in middle school, Bailey decided her goal was to become the first female head coach in the NBA, and spent most weekends in her room, dissecting old game films USC would send her.

Ultimately, she decided she didn’t like telling people what to do and fell in love with journalism.

She was named KTVU’s first female sports reporter in February 2025, after spending one year on KTVU's digital team and two years as a general assignment news reporter.

In her free time, Bailey loves to travel and has tried a McDonalds McFlurry on five different continents. Oh boy!

I am boycotting the POINT AFTER show until they get rid of Bailey & Sal and will watch Vern Glenn on KPIX.

    1. So, who hired her? KTVU. Was she hired specifically for this position? If so, what was the vetting process if any? Boycotting does nothing, avoidance is non-existence. Holding managements feet to the fire is another story...

    2. No, she was hired as a general assignment reporter from a Phoenix station over 2 years ago. She wasn't very good doing that. You are exactly right, Anonymous 8:20 AM (Bailey? Is that you?)... LOL But promoting her to a sports poistion was the wrong move after veterans like Mark Ibanez retired and Joe Fonzie comes in on a Sunday to report from Levi's Stadium. Probably on a consultant contract like Larry Kruger's $100 a day contract with KNBR. I'll watch Sunday Night Football in America on NBC in preparation of the SNF game. Maybe KTVU really doesn't have any money and has to have dreck on the air like Bailey and Sal, who know nothing about 49ers football.

    3. Not Bailey Van, just intrigued. This was poor execution across the board and unfortunately, I am less than impressed with the "younger demographic" filling these positions. Whether it be their lack of preparation and or articulation, it leaves something to be desired. Your right. It's not good? Yes, SNF is a preferable where at least the hosts have experience and thoughtful insights to share. KTVU, how far thee has fallen.

  21. I've met Vern Glenn at a concert, very nice man. Told me that Gary Radnich told him before he retired that when he retired , "you'll never see me anymore".

  22. Bailey O'Carroll: the same person who screamed "Oh my god! It's Christian McCaffrey!" when he walked by her in the the tunnel while she was live on the air. And, the same person who once covered a Warriors event wearing a black sheer top with nothing underneath and an unbuttoned blazer.

    1. Yep, the same Bailey O'Carroll. Geez! Have some tact & professionalism.

  23. Any time you listen to virtually ANY bay area radio or TV outlet doing post game shows, it's a snooze-fest. How do these people get jobs? Most of them should be working in Modesto or Monterey. Blame the broadcast outlets who hire them. They go cheap and could care less about broadcast quality or what they deliver to the fans.

  24. Has anyone learned anything from a on the field reporter interviewing the coach ? I haven't.

  25. Bring back Dwight Hicks. Represent the finest 49ers years.

  26. Spot on! The female that interviews the head coach after the second quarter or before the 3rd quarter is the biggest waste of time. I can't get to the channel changer to switch over to another game fast enough.
